Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

There will be many lawsuits. Even a lot of the talking heads have said as much.

And yet, predictably.

True basketball has become an international sport .
Either way The NBA is only minimally in the development of young players .
They’re not investing millions into guys who won’t pan out .
We have debates ad nauseum about guys leaving early and whether they are ready. It almost always comes down to, the kids will get better preparation playing in the NBA than they will playing another year of college ball with the hassles of going to school.

Exhibit Bouknight: Lots of debate on these boards. Signed for over $4 million/year and it didn't pan out.

I saw Bouknight when he was sent down to Greensboro and sat there pouting when they played Westchester in Bridgeport. He is one that needed to stay in school.

I would have no problem with Memphis joining the big east for their Olympic sports only. We need another solid basketball team. A good basketball conference should have four solid teams, if not more.

Memphis to the Big East would not be until 2027 at the earliest.

I don't think adding Memphis is worth breaking the double round robin unless somehow it comes with a significant raise. And I don't think going to 22 conference games is a great idea. We can offer the PAC football-only ourselves with no conference or buyout complications. In fact, it is probably a benefit to the Big East, as if we have a financially and competitively stable home for football, the Big East is much more likely to retain their star property.

From a solely selfish point of view: if I’m UConn I’d say no way. A successful Memphis in football and Big East basketball puts them in pole position over UConn for an ACC or Big 12 place. If I’m the Big East I would demand an astronomical exit fee if Memphis joined.

I like the idea of Memphis to the BE. The problem is that its a boost to one of our few competitors for P4 ascension. Therefore, I think Memphis is the BE ticket when UConn leaves. There really is no other school the BE could add post UConn to give it some juice.

That’s because there is none.

We get Memphis and less money. That’s the pitch.
It would have to be pro rata and a 30 million exit fee or no deal.
