Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

I think that is a stretch. It's been nearly 41 years since Jordan has been associated with UNC and the "Air Jordan" brand has been associated with Nike ever since. The "dunk" insignia can be put on any color apparel or merchandise. I venture a guess that more people around the world associate Jordan with the Chicago Bulls than Carolina Tar Heels.
I don’t associate Air Jordan with Carolina at all. When I think Nike anything, I think Oregon.

It's a nice baby blue. Looks nice on shirts. But those people have no idea about your football. You're just fooling yourself if you think building UNC football is a message to the world.
I know that & more importantly Roberts knows that. The point he's attempting to make is that survival of 26 non revenue sports depends on a larger investment in football.

I'm not saying they don't, what I'm pointing out is most people now MJ & it's not unusual for global pop cultural icons like Jay Z to wear his UNC jersey. I have personally had people mention his name the times I have been at airports in foreign countries.

The grant of rights extends through 2036 because of the ACC Network.

The look in on the media rights contract is not going to be the watershed moment people have convinced themselves it will be.
Exactly.

Lol. So many schools in ACC realize a cut in their ACC revenus beats having to go in to the market alone to find their value.

"ACC sources suggested a vote to support the new revenue distribution plan may not be unanimous, but one conference administrator said a cut in distribution would likely be worthwhile if it meant stability in the coming years as college athletics works its way through a volatile series of existential shifts in its amateurism model. Multiple administrators who spoke with ESPN noted the severe impact that the collapse of the Pac-12 had on Oregon State and Washington State, and the observably diminished values of those programs has helped spark interest in negotiating a settlement."

And I'm say those are fairly large leaps. Anecdotes don't typically extrapolate too far over a general population. There are exceptions obviously, but for the most part Europeans are confused by America's college athletics obsession.

So we need to be in the big12 by 2030 at the latest. Hopefully sooner because competing without revenue sharing is going to show, and fast.

“As part of the settlement, Clemson and Florida State are asking the ACC to agree to reduce penalties for exiting the grant of rights after 2031, when TV contracts for the Big Ten, SEC and Big 12 are set to expire.”

So, the rest of The ACC is buying FSU, Clemson, UNC, and Miami's silence until 2031. If they're able to negotiate lower exit penalties The ACC as we know it is effectively on the clock.

Why would the ACC schools not named FSU or Clemson actually agree to that?

They’ve no reason and no incentive.

A lot of this is just common sense

Those negotiations will be something! I'd assume that UNC, among others (Miami), also will not be satisfied with a reduced share. I would also have to believe that the agreement is contingent upon successful negotiations with FSU, Clemson, etc. Separating the wheat from the chaff.

Actually, if people are genuinely only concerned about carbon emissions from the generation of electricity, nuclear power plants are the clear answer.
FIFY.

Hard to say, but it seems like they're open to placating the bread winners in order to maintain the peace for a few more years. It's definitely a screwed up dynamic, but what isn't with that conference?

Tweaking the revenue formula…eh, fine. Maybe they do that. I saw some mention that they were going to consider giving FSU and Clemson more Notre Dame games…they probably need to discuss that with Notre Dame.

But making it cheaper for them to leave early? If any president votes for that, their school should fire them immediately.

This is an interesting settlement if the reports are true. The "brand" football schools get more games against Notre Dame and the "non-brand" schools get fewer. Then there is extra money for the brand schools and the possibility that the exit penalties decline in 2031. Sounds like a compromise.

Who would be deciding the revenue distribution splits or should I say mediating? Would some of it be FB performance based, attendance, times on national TV, etc. ? This would be interesting, especially for BCU.
