Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

It makes sense when you consider busting is an option. The Big 12 will make more money than the ACC.

Plus this calls the SEC and B1G’s bluff.
They basically have to go somewhere now. They can't do all this stuff and then stay in the ACC. Though it would be very funny if the B1G and SEC said thanks but no thanks and all of this was basically for nothing

That’s a very expensive decision to go from a conference in which your fans can travel with relative ease to most away games to going to Tucson or most anywhere else in the Big 12. Never mind, it would take years to recoup all the money lost leaving the ACC. Power 2 or bust. The Big 12 is a solid conference with mostly great fanbases, but everyone would be in the SEC or Big 10 if asked. It’s the best of the rest of schools not in the ACC.

I think still the scenario where both the B1G and SEC pass on these two is on the table. Not sure how much table it has, but it seems possible to me that they have been wishcasting themselves to the P2, particularly Clemson. Both conference have to have tv partners willing to pay way up...again....without a chance to digest the last expansion.

That said, I don't see Clemson and UConn to the B12 as a crazy outcome (Yormark gets his NE BB and everyone else gets their elevated football) and Florida St to the B1G (because their economic fire power is inline with the B1G schools) to for an odd, but probably temporary 19 team conf as out of the realm either.

All the balls remain in the air.

There’s also no reason they can’t go to the Big 12 as a two year stop gap to going to the B1G or SEC if the B1G and/or SEC aren’t willing to take on the legal risk of adding them to the league straight from the ACC

The Big 12 has a GOR. Clemson could end up right back where they are now, trying to break a GOR.

Pretty sure FSU and Clemson have the leverage to not sign that. Utah didn’t sign it either.

Ha- GORs! Those are about to become obsolete when they bind you beyond your nose. Everyone hates discovery- particularly your publicly traded media conglomerates.

Btw- not looking to dance on your post- just saying!

Say Clemson and FSU are shunned by the P2. I was thinking about a best of the rest. Obviously this won't happen, but just for ha-ha's, I wonder what something like this version of the Big 12 would be worth. And the ACC would have some openings

Why would BIG 12 teams leave to join a weakened ACC conference?

Also if FSU and Clemson leave ACC there is a good chance ND leaves as well. NBC would hate that football schedule for ND.

It would be hilarious if Clemson and FSU spent a boatload of money to get out of the ACC because of the revenue gap just to go to another conference with a slightly smaller revenue gap.

I don't doubt Florida State would get interest from the Big Ten, in fact, other than Notre Dame, I'd assume Florida State & UNC are the one, two picks of the Big Ten (or SEC for that matter); and probably the only two schools who may come close to bringing in enough revenue to pay for their addition.

I don't think Clemson's attraction to either conference in nearly what Florida State's is and each year that they are remain in the good, not great range (as they were last year and much of the pre-Dabo era) they only become less attractive. Essentially Clemson needs to get out now (which is why I think they filed the lawsuit rather than let Florida State spend the money to find out what the cost will be and follow that path), because there is a real risk they could be left out of the top two if they aren't one of the first to leave.

That was a few years ago.

Things have changed.
Yeah, that was so many years ago.

Please refresh my memory, when exactly was BYU' first game as a member of the B-12?

If Clemson and FSU are Big 12 bound, all of this makes no sense.
An ACC as currently comprised, plus scheduling agreement with ND would be superior to Big 12.

Plus, this whole thing is based on getting to equality with other P2 programs. So why would they join a league that Tx and Ok just left?

FSU and Clemson I think are not leaving to the Big 12, that would make no sense on their part, they'd be jumping ship to a conference that is on par with the ACC, even in revenue.

True, and after 20+ years of Uconn getting screwed I try not to play this CR guessing game anymore. I don't believe the Uconn/Big 12 stuff anymore than the last time( Uconn as a ploy ?), but maybe as an ACC backfill if this was true, FWIW,
