Maybe. It's out of our control either way. Sports landscape is moving on without the mid tier football guys. It's done. It's been done for years. As far as march madness, my bet is they will still be pulling 32 teams or so at large for hoops. Who knows though. And our days of playing in March Madness are over
I was thinking exactly that. Good enough for a Florida court anyway.ESPN not having a guarantee to extend the deal past 2027 is HUGE. That is FSU's out right there.
If you think ESPN is telling Herbstreit what to say, yiu have no credibility.
ThanksYou have a vowel misplaced there genius
The main reason the ACC didn't want UConn is because they sued the ACC. Now that the FSU and the ACC are trading lawsuits, that's no longer a valid reason. So I imagine UConn gets bumped to the top now.6 schools to bring in ahead of UConn

Everything else aside, how the F#$% is it possible that a signatory party to a legally binding agreement is not allowed to have an executed copy of said agreement?
Are they a signatory party though? Isn't the legally binding agreement between ESPN and the ACC and not the ACC members et al?
I don't know how to tell you this, but you don't know what you're talking about. Endowments were a thing long before big time athletics were a thing and grew long before big time football became a thing. The B1G research partnership also has nothing to do with athletics, they just pool academic resources to be more competitive.Right. It’s not like the B1G doesn’t benefit massive from its research partnership. And plenty of other schools use sports to raise money for their endowments. And when I say sports it really just means football.
Seriously, just stop talking.

Herbstreit would be a highly prized hire at any network. He has no reason to cowtow to corporate. And part of his reputation rests on speaking honestly without bias. You have a vowel misplaced there genius....You don't think a highly paid employee speaks for the best financial interests of his employer? He certainly carries the water for ESPN & their partner the SEC.

I suggest you take your own advice and stop tapking
At some point this is what it boils down to for ESPN. If they can't keep FSU, and a few others in the ACC, ESPN would want them in the SEC which ESPN also controls. Losing them to the B1G means losing them to FOX.
Perhaps I misread it but I thought it stated that the Grant of Rights agreement is what the attorneys couldn't copy. That agreement is between the member schools and the ACC. The media deal is between the ACC and ESPN.Are they a signatory party though? Isn't the legally binding agreement between ESPN and the ACC and not the ACC members et al?
No, I'm saying it's a miniscule part of their overall fundraising. So you’re denying that schools use football to fundraise? Having an FBS program is a big part of a University’s public profile.
Even for the Ivies football is big for Alums and fundraising.
Keep digging that hole.
That cannot be right. No, I'm saying it's a miniscule part of their overall fundraising.
Also for the ivies, they get a lot more donations from other sports than they do for football.
I thought it showed more how little value basketball has to the TV rights deal, even in the ACC. Yormark is probably right that basketball is undervalued, but he's got to convince a network partner that there is more money to be made from hoops (or successfully sever basketball/olympic sports and football rights).Huh. ND underpaid by them by a lot then and they don't bitch, which shows how much they value Independent status.
No, I'm saying it's a miniscule part of their overall fundraising.
Also for the ivies, they get a lot more donations from other sports than they do for football. If they actually thought football was important for their academic profile, they would participate in the FCS playoffs.
ESPN won’t pay them more. They made there feelings concerning fsu clear a couple weeks ago
I'm not saying it's doesn't play a part, but calling it crucial is incorrect.Football/Sports is part of the image of the school. And it is a crucial part of fundraising.
That advances the conversation.No.
LOL. The ACC is never bringing in Liberty. The Sun Belt doesn't even want them. Wake and Duke will never accept ECU. VaTech will never accept JMU. If Miami is left behind, they will never accept USF. Memphis keeps getting left behind for a reason, and Tulane has been good at football for all of two minutes. We are fine.6 schools to bring in ahead of UConn
