UCF beat Pitt 45-14. Clemson beat Pitt 42-10.

Memphis is better than Pitt. Memphis should be ranked higher than Pitt as should Cincinnati.

We know UCF manhandled Auburn last year. If they beat LSU minus their Heisman candidate QB will you please shut up?
 
Nope...because you have to have an SOS in regular season better than UCF's current #90 ranking.

The playoff teams have rankings of less than half of that...a 12-1 Ohio State would be in before UCF.
 
Yeah...UCF did beat Auburn by 7...and gave the Tigers their 5th loss...

Playing #132 in the opener doesn't help that. it's also a fake metric.

Which team with less than 3 losses did Clemson beat this year? Zero.
Alabama? One.
Oklahoma? Zero.
Notre Dame? One.
UCF? One.

SOS is overrated because it assumes there is an operative difference between the 50th best team and the 80th. As I just showed.
 
Maybe...but I'd take 3 loss Florida over 2 loss Cincinnati...and 4 loss Texas A&M ....and Texas, etc.

Central Florida has played no top 30 team....their best win was 7-6 Pitt and maybe 8-5 Memphis.

SOS is also reliant on preseason rankings which are a sham.

How does a 7 loss FSU rate? The same as a 4 loss A&M or an 11 loss UConn. They only count if you lose.

If the SEC is so big an bad, then how did two teams manage to knife though it with one combined loss? Clemson and OU literally beat no one of substance.
 
I have no doubt that Georgia would be 13-0 with Clemson's schedule, Notre Dame would also be 13-0 and so would Oklahoma

The problem with your retort is that no top 10 or even top 20 P5 team wants to play UCF.

It's not like UCF can just draw up whatever schedule it wants and force teams to play them.

What in essence you are doing is punishing UCF for something that is out of their control
 
I don't really buy that...UCF has been "Snydering"...but they are starting to schedule up....they play Stanford next year.

BYU plays Utah, USC, Washington, Miss. State...next year

....& CAL, Wisconsin, Washington, Arizona this year

...& played Wisconsin, Utah, LSU, Boise in 2017

And I have no doubt that more than a half dozen teams would be 13-0 with UCF's schedule.
 
Rutgers out and UConn in! If UConn goes B10 we would get enough in revenue to hire among the best football coaches in the nation, and keep Randy on, too.

As I have suspected, RU was the +1 to Maryland. The Big Ten was always after Maryland. And then Maryland returned the favor and was gone.

And now they're stuck with both.

If an team playoff were to happen and the G5 team were to get a guaranteed spot, I like uconn's position.
Winning the AAC has proven to be, in most years, what is necessary to secure that g5 spot.

This type of decision ahead of the AAC talks only means that somehow it will blow up and somehow destroy the AAC and ultimately Uconn. Right now, the AAC has essentially proven it's top team can play with the best. It only took a couple years for an AAC team to threaten the CFP. Had Houston gone undefeated that year, no way they could have held them out. UCF, for all its success just didn't have the strength of schedule. For P5, that's still probably too close for comfort.

IF the CFP goes to 8 before the AAC contract is complete, that does create a huge opportunity for the AAC to add Boise and BYU... The value of that contract would be well over what any of those schools currently gets. And the conference winner would be assured of the CFP spot in 8 or 9 out of every 10 years. That possibility would be worth signing a GOR for. The league would actually become a P6 and the other conferences would no longer be able to poach at will. They would cannibalize themselves first and when they do, that only bumps up the stock of the AAC more.

The fact that something like that is a possibility means the powers that be see it too. Therefore, to my earlier point, this will blow up magnificently and the AAC and Uconn will be kicked in the jimmy.
 
The AAC has been better than the Pac 12. I don't think there is any debate about that.
