this is some absurd crap here....

Not the first time there have been rumors about Calhoun coming back. Coach in waiting candidate typically assumed to be Steve Pikiell.

Can I make some stuff up too?

Once again:

Just talked to Jim Calhoun. He said he isn't looking to get back into coaching. "I haven't talked to anybody about a job." #UConn

Calhoun: "I'm not trying to get back into basketball. I'm not seeking a job." #UConn

I guess it's acceptable for "sports journalists" to make stuff up out of whole cloth now. Not at all surprised it was Goodman either.

Just heard that Brimah and Purvis are transferring to BC. Wonder why?

Refuse to believe JC has interest in being a college head coach again. And BC? He could have stayed at UConn if that were the case. Plus I think Pat would kill him before he signed the contract!

JC wouldn't throw the first pitch out at Yankee Stadium being the big Red Sox fan that he is.

So there is no way he takes the BC job. I think he hates them just as much as the Yankees.

.-.
jeff 'good'man is a hack trying to get attention on an early friday..

if it happens id be shocked … like shocked the world shocked

bc and fespn

JC has an ego and basketball passion and competitiveness, I have no doubt he would love to butt heads again with boeheim, krzxnzmmdfz and pitino.
And maybe deep down he reasons that infiltrating BC will give his real home a much needed friendly voice in a conference that still holds my ch UConn hostility.
When first asked about his why didn't he just say he had no interest in the BC job? Didn't he just deflect the question?

These hacks seem to put out these articles every year when we are in the tourney. Just surprise that it wasn't yesterday

Honestly. This is such yellow journalism. They should be ashamed of themselves. Goodman belongs at a tabloid.

I agree with you, Alex. This whole topic is baffling.

While I have heard that the reported animosity between JC and BC was always a bit overblown and it has waned considerably over the years, I just cannot fathom why JC would want to get back into coaching.

He is 71 years old. Has had some health issues. He had a legendary career, taking an obscure MBB program to an elite level. He has 3 NC rings. Presumably, he doesn't need the money. What more mountains are left to conquer?? Why would he want to get back into a tough physical grind at this stage in his life?

The BC MBB coaching job IS a good gig for the right coach. However, to get BC MBB back to even where it was before is going to take a lot of work. Could JC be successful there? Absolutely. I just don't understand why he would want it, or any other coaching job, at this stage in his life.

I agree with this, completely.

If this were to occur, my feeling is that Jim Calhoun doesn't owe UConn anything.
Quite the opposite. I would wish him luck

Agreed, but still ... I would rather light myself on fire than see this happen.

Jim Calhoun is not interested in the Boston College job.

I have no idea if Boston College would be interested in Jim Calhoun - I can't imagine they would be.

To anyone who suddenly felt a clenchening of the butt cheeks over this should just think about two things...JC's health and...BC's lack of hoops success as an ACC outpost will not improve under his watch. He would not be able to start over somewhere else with his rules at his age. And he would not want to just get back into coaching for 2 years. What kid would commit to him?

He's our lifer now.

I betcha this guy is pumped

I have a family member highly placed in the BC administration. He hates Coach Calhoun. Thinks of him as a cheater scumbag. Not going to happen.
Fornicate you you little troll. You don't know anybody of any importance in any walk of life. You just chimed in to call Calhoun a cheating scumbag because you obviously root for a school that got its ass kicked by JC for years.

Well, as much as it may upset many of us, Jim Calhoun can do whatever he wants to do. By not closing the door to future coaching opportunities when interviewed, he is sending out a message that he could be available. If it would make him happier, then what the heck? I would rather he not, but my preference has no real importance when you get right down to it.

he can hold his head high and look at those academic and revenue-sharing banners hanging in good ol Conte Forum.

This would be a brilliant move, sneak UConn into the ACC through the backdoor, use BC as a door mat. :)

First, JC is under contract with UConn for several more years and I believe he is thoroughly enjoying this job to increase donors, build the new training facility, etc. He would have to be bought out, which could happen, but is doubtful for a job at BC.
Second, JC is not a 35 year old guy who has the needed energy for a 10 year, turn-around job at a college he openly said he would never play his team against - ever again.
Third, BC is not serious about hoops and not interested in hiring and paying a big-time coach like Calhoun. There are lots of mediocre, potential candidates available that fit BC's needs much better.
JMO

Can't blame the writers. They smell smoke, even if there's not a visible flame, and JC is, deliberately or not, keeping this going with his ambiguous answers ...

Duffy: Calhoun said he "can't speculate" if he'd show interest should B.C. reach out to him.

Duffy: Calhoun (cont): "I haven't thought about it..well I shouldn't say that, that would be untrue. I haven't done anything about it."

Duffy: Calhoun (cont): You could say, 'well, say you're never going to coach again.' I'm not going to say that."

Duffy Calhoun: "Someone is speculating, and like I said, I would never say never, and from that it's grown it's own life a little bit."
