We just dont know what the rule is for that...Malachi would’ve gotten the shot off later, within that 20.

ExactlyIt feels good again to be beating top 15 teams by double digits and leading all game and still nitpicking about it being an "average" game overall.
I'm just sitting here on my phone watch people unable to agree on if it was the right call or not.Isn't it arbitrary though? I mean, it's arbitrary when the timekeeper hits the reset button after they determine the player came down with the rebound and kept possession.
Refs looked at it, they wouldn't have made the determination he was fouled at 21 if he was fouled at 19.
So, I just don't see the point in looking at 10ths of a second when the whole process is arbitrary from the split second the timekeeper decides to reset the clock.
Agreed. My “evidence” turned out to be me pausing it when Reibe definitely did have possession. I thought this coincided with when the timekeeper reset the clock due to it reading 30, but it actually changed to 30 as soon as the ball hit the rim. Then a second or so after Reibe secured the rebound, the timekeeper reset the clock to 20. That’s an arbitrary judgment, but it was done officially at a time that would’ve allowed Malachi to get the shot off regardless of the erroneous reset that came later. Then the announcer mistakenly called it the original 30, but obviously meant the second 20. I think it’s all tied up with a bow in my mind now, and I appreciate all the good faith discussion on the matter.Isn't it arbitrary though? He was big on defenseSolo carried us offensively early and then went ice cold. AK only had 12 points and still put the ball down and drove which is always a disaster but he played a great game. Malachi was the player of the game. Big Eric was awesome, we had no reason to believe he would be this good this early.
Tarris wasn't even close to healthy, he didn't move well at all and couldn't jump. If he was healthy we would've totally blasted them. This game should've been a blowout but Hurley took Malachi out of the game and he did the stall ball thing again.
It looked like we should've blown them out with Tarris at like 20% (2 pts, 5 rebs) Silas in foul trouble all game, and Braylon not integrated at all yet. It shows just how good we are. We are deep especially at the right places, this is a great team.
The crowd was all UConn.
I think we are now agreed.I'm just sitting here on my phone watch people unable to agree on if it was the right call or not.
Surely there must be some way for everyone to get on the same page, right?
If I could get on my computer and see for myself, I'd form my own opinion, but I won't be able to for like 24 hours.
Actually I thought this team had an answer each time there was an appearance of a run by IllinoisWe have to stop holding the ball forever when we're up 10+ with 10 minutes to go. All of our worst play has come from 10:00-2:00 left in the game. It was fine in 23/24 because those guys had crazy killer instincts and would find a bucket on their own. But that's a huge luxury and not something you can count on reliably.
No offense...you might be one of my top 500 favorite BY posters but I think your takes are terribleLove Reed - might be my favorite player on the team. Have you seen any of the background stuff on him? Hurley having to shift him from Teddy Bear to Kodiak? I am not bashing him - I'm simply saying that he's a softie. My god people, take the poles out of your collective butts.
Second foul on Demary tooI know we play aggressively but we get some of the strangest phantom calls…especially on Ross
No, you said he isn't a guy that can play through pain, which is an objectively terrible take.Love Reed - might be my favorite player on the team. Have you seen any of the background stuff on him? I’m genuinely happy for you bro lmao. You were committed to getting to a conclusion.Agreed. My “evidence” turned out to be me pausing it when Reibe definitely did have possession. How does that have anything to do with his toughing it out through pain, which he already did this season to make sure we beat BYU? Don’t try to move the goalposts; you sound no less idiotic for your initial post. Not just this game - last year he had a tendency to drift if things weren’t going well.
What is the “koolaid mafia”? Please expoundAnd yeah - the koolaid mafia is out.
Lay out your 10:1 good:bad points.Say 10 positive things and the defense mafia will zero in on the one non.
Exactly. And yet, he played through whatever discomfort he was still experiencing to help us win. Are you that dumb that you don’t realize you’re defeating your own stupid point?Hurley said his health was about a week out in post game.
Spend more time watching college basketball. These are 18-22 year olds, it’s a game of runs, and Illinois isn’t a bad team. Did you expect another 30-0 run? We’re allowed to take a 20 point lead and it’s unfathomable for them to have a few 8-10 point runs of their own?We had a big lead. Then we did not. We gave up a big lead. Not THE lead.
That was such a pretty move.Eric, with his back to the basket, spun to his right along the baseline and laid in with his left hand. He's going to be quite the player for us.
Did you not watch Tarris last year? He was a beacon for inconsistency. He tends to be a bit moody out there at times, often when things are going his way. When he's on, he's an alpha. How does that have anything to do with his toughing it out through pain, which he already did this season to make sure we beat BYU? Best game by Malachi so far in a UConn uniform.
Mullins looks like he will be very good. Just wait to he finds his footing.
You haven’t answered the question as to how you’ve arrived at the conclusion that Reed is “soft” and doesn’t play through pain. But don’t bother anymore; it was more so a rhetorical exercise in demonstrating how dumb your post was.Did you not watch Tarris last year? He was a beacon for inconsistency. What’s the “kool aid”?The tribe that comes after you when you said one critical item.
You can make 100 nice posts. If you make an unfounded and embarrassingly stupid post to denigrate one of our players, some of us will take you to task. Suck it up and deal with it, or keep the dumb thoughts to yourself. Don’t be a child and call us some “mafia” over it.Not ten, but multiple. Reibe, Malachi, AK, Ross........
When you post 500 takes a week you're bound to have some good ones and some bad ones. But just by the sheer number of posts he makes there are a relatively large number of bad ones and that's what stands out to many people. No offense...you might be one of my top 500 favorite BY posters but I think your takes are terrible
The reports of Ball’s and Karaban’s demise in play were greatly exaggerated.
