When did Illinois take the lead from us? I just have missed itNah we have to figure that snit out. Can’t keep giving up leads.

No... that wasn't the explanation given.I understand what you’re saying, and it isn’t true: Reibe has the ball in two hands with 2:32 on the game clock and a reset shot clock. Either way, it’s beside the point. The explanation given for the ruling was this: “So apparently, the prior shot, which did hit the rim (okay)… clock reset to 20, but, that last flail was within the original 30” … that is nonsense.
Toughing out pain was exactly what he did by playing today.Reed doesn’t strike me as the kind of kid that can tough out some pain. His body language was lousy today. Reibe was the better player when in.
That cut by Ross for the easy dump down is exactly the kind of headsy plays we need out of that role. These are the kind of things Stew doesn’t do.
I am a high school math teacher. Maybe I should pose this question to my students.I think the math is off.
Malachi missed and the ball hit the rim but the clock resets when possession is ESTABLISHED. NOT when the ball hits the rim.
This is why 2:32 is not the correct time for the original reset.
It's more like 2:31 or 2:30.
So when the ref blows the whistle on Malachi's shot, the clock reads 2:11.
For argument sake, you could say that Malachi was fouled within the 20 seconds BUT he let the ball go AFTER the 20 seconds had run out. So you wipe away the 3 and give him 3 foul shots.
Kollieman's math and understanding is bad on this one.
Except, you know, when he played through the remainder of the game he actually got hurt in to make sure we wonReed doesn’t strike me as the kind of kid that can tough out some pain. His body language was lousy today. Reibe was the better player when in.

This is wrong. Show me a 20 playclock with 2:32 on the screen. I can show you a 2:29 screenshot with 19 seconds.I got it from seeing Reibe gain possession of the rebound and have the shot clock reset with 2:32 on the game clock. Then the whistle for the shooting foul stopped the clock at 2:10. The weird thing about the freeze frame I attached is it shows 30 on the shot clock, which was a momentary flash before it said 20 and began counting down (an anomaly I noticed throughout the broadcast).
Good in depth reply. It sounds like a correct answer on a philosophy test.I just went back and rewatched that possession from the beginning. The ultimate explanation from the announcers was not true. In the original shot clock, Smith missed a layup off the rim and they reset the clock properly. Then Karaban’s shot didn’t hit the rim, but they improperly reset the clock.
In my opinion, they handled it incorrectly: it should have been UConn possession on the baseline with about 3 second on the shot clock. The basket should not have counted because it was released after the shot clock would have expired. However, it should not have been a turnover to Illinois because the reality on the floor was a reset shot clock, and the players responded to the live ruling. So, in my opinion, they made the wrong determination to count the basket and also offered a factually untrue explanation for that decision.
Dating back to the end of the regular season from last year.Solo is so good from midrange and at the basket right now that if he could just shoot 38% from 3 he would sleepwalk to 18-20 points a game. if he wasn't still lighting it up in practice I doubt Hurley would give him free reign to hoist them up, hoping it eventually bounces back in his favor but he hasn't shot it well from 3 in any game yet dating all the way back to the exhibitions.
I don’t know why so much obsession about that call. The refs made a lot of mistakes and bad calls today. It was an awful crew and in my opinion the mistakes mostly benefited Illinois. The clock DID reset on the first shot. I had to go back because that whole situation stunk to me and the explanation does not hold up to inspection.
On a side note though, I might drop a couple quid to see Ruffy ask Tarris for his thoughts on the matter... In a face-to-face setting, I mean. This post is Exhibit A of what I was talking about yesterday and why nobody respects your opinion. We just beat a top 15 team at MSG and you come here to post this idiocy.
We're 7 games into the season and you have trashed basically every UConn rotation player already
Thank you. Also the clocks on TV aren’t always the real
clocks.
Not just this game - last year he had a tendency to drift if things weren’t going well.Except, you know, when he played through the remainder of the game he actually got hurt in to make sure we won
But I’m late to this thread, I’m sure you’ve gotten appropriately roasted for this nonsense

Because this place obsesses like termites on old wood at anything anti.I don’t know why so much obsession about that call. The refs made a lot of mistakes and bad calls today. It was an awful crew and in my opinion the mistakes mostly benefited Illinois.

Who is our best player? Illinois got 25 from their best player and lostGot nothing from our best player and still won by double digits. Smith gets the game ball. Reibe honorable mention. Glad to see Solo getting his groove back in the first half. Mullins’ stroke is pretty.
We had a big lead. Then we did not. We gave up a big lead. Not THE lead. When did Illinois take the lead from us? I just have missed it

I mean Hurley is just the coach...what does he know. We should trust the random armchair intenet poster more obviously. LOLIt's a pretty marked contrast to Hurley's comments on Reed post-game.
Figures you don't even get the instrument right.
Hilarious to hear you call him soft, though. Perfect.
With "fans" like RuffRuff, who needs haters. It’s as if the end of the BYU game never happened.
He’s an imbecile. Full stop.
ReedWho is our best player?
A baseball player would know. The greatest and toughest athletes in the world along with golfers.Tarris is a softie
