I would just say to give Enoch some time. He's only a sophomore. He is a big, dominating body with offensive tools. Sure, his FG% isn't great, but he makes good post-up moves and creates his own shots. On the offensive end, everything is there except the made baskets (and his shots don't usually miss by much, they rim out most of the time).

I think what it's really showing is that the team is just plain bad, but Vital is replacing Purvis or Jackson when he comes in, both of whom have been incredibly poor shooters this year, and Vital is probably the best defender of the group. So we just play a little better when he's in.

There is no replacement for Jalen, and +/- is basically a comparison of replacements, so it doesn't tell us much about him at all.

Brimah is 2nd on the team in +/-, and considering he has Enoch as a replacement, that's not too surprising either.

It's a unique stat for this team because of how thin we are. As Purvis and Adams rarely come out, all that Vitale's plus/minus shows us is that when he's in Vance is out, and we're a better team when Vance is out.

Sorry Mr. Jackson.

This thread is so bad. 10% of the posts are actual updates, it needs a shame thread. Sadly, I would have to shame myself there for this very post.
interestingly enough, your post is the first in maybe 3-4 pages that has nothing to do with diallo or the roster construction moving forward w or w/o him ( thats why enoch was brought up). so, your comment is actually more derailing than anything said here since the last "this thread is so bad" post.

I'm sorry Stats because I really like your posts and respect stats for the most part but +/- favoring Vital shows you all you need to know about how accurate that is. I mean I love the kid but if he's leading something is wrong with the system and it's not allowing all the variables to be in play.

+/- doesn't mean he's the best player, it means he's the guy whose marginal value is highest compared to the guy he displaces.

Since Adams and Purvis play the whole game, when Vital comes in he's displacing Vance Jackson. Jackson is so poor that Vital looks good.

Update - I see businesslawyer beat me to this one. Well said bl.

Please stop posting about Steven Enoch in a thread about Diallo, those of us who are looking forward to updates do not appreciate it. Thank you.

This is my least favorite post in the thread. Congrats. When there is a final decision, there will be ten threads so don't worry.

Enoch should be reaching to be as good as nolan, he is nowhere near AB and probably wont be next year. He doesn't have a left hand and a right hand, he has neither. He should focus on shedding maybe 10-20 pounds, he is just too slow at the moment it has nothing to do with overthinking.
Again, James, you talk complete BS
SE does and has shown he has both a left and right hand as well as some other offensive moves
He is far ahead offensively than AB when he was a soph. No comparative
AB does have a defensive advantage in the shot blocking area but both lack basic footwork skills on the defensive end and both get beaten to the hoop on a regular basis. SE's lack comes from not having to concentrate on D in H.S. and ABs comes from lack of basketball experience but you would think after playing 4 yrs at this level something would have sunk in - he just doesn't want it bad enough
But knowing your normal posts, I'll say it for you, while I don't agree - its all on KO

No matter what he has decided, it is hard to understand why Diallo hasn't made an announcement. I believe he decided after his Kentucky visit and I have no strong feelings either way whether it is us or Kentucky.

UK makes a thousand time better choice for him. He'll be practicing against several future NBA players vs. @ UConn against CV and VJ. If he jumps he jumps, if not he'll have a spot next year when several UK guys bolt. I certainly hope he comes here, but trying to look at it from his persoective.

You're looking at it from Kentucky's perspective, not Diallo's. 1000 times better? Get outta here with that crud.

You have to be kidding.

If his sole focus is the fastest path to the NBA do you think he'll develop quicker practicing against CV, RP, VJ or Monk, Briscoe and Fox?

I don't think he'll ever play college bball,

If his sole purpose is the fastest path to the nba and get drafted high why even go to college for half a semester and expose any weaknesses? I think he should go to college (uconn) see what the scouts say, if he's not a early first round/lottery come back to uconn and become a high lottery pick. He can stand out at uconn instead of being buried at UK. Ollie also has connections to nba personnel

Exactly. No way he's a true UCONN fan. It's one thing to come on a UCONN board and say you're not a ''homer'....It's quite another and actively promote our top priority and a player we desperately need to choose one of our most hated rival. There's no way anyone on the Kentucky board is promoting us. I call poser. I've only ignored one poster in the 5 years I've been on this board. Today I make it two.

You have brought this Board to a new low, a bar I have no doubt you will soon lower. Now you're saying he's going to, or should, base his decision on who he's going to PRACTICE against? PUHlease......this goes beyond grasping at straws. Congratulations on earning the Boneyard perma-dunce award. Now shut up and go sit in the corner.

The idea that Enoch is ahead of where Brimah was as a sophomore is so far off that it is hard to fathom. He has physical tools that make him an appealing prospect, but as far as anything tangible, he isn't close to Brimah in any capacity.

Not sure how Enoch is ahead of Nolan offensively when Enoch is shooting 37% from the field. He's actually a lot like him in that he seems to take decent shots but is unable to convert. On the other end he's nowhere close.

I agree with the guy who said we're just going to have to give him time.

He's no true Scotsman, either.

I don't think he'll ever play college bball,

If he enrolls at UConn, he gets PT right away, and there's a chance he could impress scouts enough to get him into the mid-1st round this June, i.e. as soon as possible. His chances of getting picked in the first round after scrimmaging with Malik Monk are close to zero.

Duh.

Wouldn't HD have to pay his own way at Kentucky THIS SEMESTER?

And Brimah was much better as a sophomore than Enoch is now

Verbal Commits counts 11 scholarship players for UK this year so they do have room for him.
