Gamecocks 2022-2023, part two

Let’s not get too excited over the performance of a Big against a team we beat by almost 100 points.

I am concerned that both point guards were held out.

From why I’ve heard both could have played but were held out for precautionary reason. It’s a long season why did playing them against Benedict? Raven is closer than Kierra but I think both will likely play a little next week to knock off the rust and prepare for Maryland.

I second this. Especially with an ACL, the last thing you want to see is regression.

Dawn said in her post game that Raven could’ve played if necessary, but yeah.. no reason to rush them back for an exhibition. I would rather bring them back slowly than rush them back with anything nagging. We need them both now, but we need Raven long term for the years ahead. No nagging injuries.

Very Candace Parker-esque. She’s a star in the making.
total 360 from the player i saw last season with her body , handles and speed . Last season i felt she would end up transferring with the addition of watkins and due to her size and footspeed being stuck in a PF/C position. This new found Feagan looks like a premier SF/PF type player for sure. Very impressed with her offseason i hope it translates to the regular season against formibdable opponents. She makes SC next season a contender with KC , Raven & Hall , and one of the seniors that return for a 5th year.

I would have thought that you'd have wanted to give Raven some minutes in this game just to get her on the court and run a few things.

We'll just have to see her health and conditioning next week.

This would be my thought process as well especially if the game was never going to be in question at the end . Why not give her a little burn to get some play under her belt and assess how she's progressing post injury unless she's not ready to play ?

I’ve been watching her since HS long before she was a gamecock and she’s always had that skill set. She just needed to get into college shape and like you said change her body to stay on the court. Now that she’s done that look out! I expect some good minutes and production from her and it’s going to surprise ALOT of ppl.

I honestly think we have a few games at the beginning of the season where we can get her some minutes.

Meant to post this yesterday and forgot. Idk how much credence to give this so draw your own conclusions. The site is not Gamecock-centric and covers teams pretty equally so there's that. A little more than 1k followers for those that use that to help formulate their opinion. (The "My hitta Kamilla" poster is a Gamecock fan)

This would be big if Fulwiley has changed course from LV !! Big Big get !

Yeah, but first week includes a trip to Maryland. I’m a worrier.

I think she commits to SC. She posted more on her Insta story last weekend than on any other trip. What’s weird though is she has posted none of the official pics that the recruits get from the weekend likes she’s done for her other 3 visits. I’m thinking she’s saving them for her commitment video

Update she finally posted the pics to her Instagram

It was moreso changing her course from Ole Miss and Florida than Louisville. Leading up to her visit there those schools have been working hard to get her. I think she went to hear Jeff Walz out and there’s a possibility she and Kitts go to the same school. They’ve become close this last year.

Just a reminder:

Here are the 2022–23 dates for NCAA basketball signing period: Early signing period: November 9-16, 2022. Regular signing period: April 12 – May 17, 2023.

I believe that was her grandmother, but still, it’s a lot to lose within a couple of months. Prayers up for LA. She’s gone thru a lot in her young life.

Not sure of her relation to LA but I don’t believe she’s LA’s mother or grandmother. My impression has been that she’s not biologically related to the Amihere’s but super close and dear to them and very much family. Looks like she might have been very active in their community and very loved by many based on things I see posted online. Looks like she was quite the inspiration for LA who has been quite societally involved on campus pretty much since she’s been at USC. This is from the go fund me page to raise money for her treatment,

”Olga is the proud mother of two sons and she continues to provide for them by herself. She is also the primary caregiver to her elderly mother. Olga's family has not been spared from this insidious disease and throughout her own treatment, she has had to nurse others in her household. Since her original diagnosis of Breast Cancer in 2008 and subsequent diagnoses in 2014, 2018 and 2020, Olga has had to take multiple leaves from work which has negatively impacted her financial situation. She has already spent all of her savings supporting her family during her previous cancer treatments. Olga and her family are already in a precarious financial position and this new hope for treatment is beyond her means.”

She was 62 years old at her passing.

Yeah I was of the impression that she was like a 2nd mother to LA but not actually related. I hope she can stay strong, that's a lot to endure in only a few months.

I found it interesting that Feagin got the starting nod over Amihere in the absence of Saxton.

I personally wouldn't put much stock into it. Dawn stated she still doesn't have her starting lineup leading up to the exhibition game. She probably wanted to see how Feagin looks with that group and it also allowed for Amihere to get some more reps at the point.

But if Feagin produces the way she did in the exhibition, then she will be stealing minutes from the other posts.

Interesting she will enroll early. Been seeing more kids as of late forgoing their senior seasons and going to college early
This will likely be a development year for her to get stronger and prepare for the SEC. She’s super smart so I suspect she’s finished with her main HS courses anyway and will graduate in December. Her previous school DME Academy is a Early College HS so she was already taking College courses.

is she going to play right away?
