Sounds like people making up drama. I highly doubt Reese had any issues with anyone on the team at the time. People want to make a story out of anything.

Reese committed to Maryland out of HS because they have a very good program and that is where she is from. I don't think there is any more to it than that. She made it apparent in many interviews that she was iffy about going far from 'home' for college (as a HS recruit).
I don't think she was especially close with Eniya Russell, who played in their local HS league.

That’s possible but Eniya didn’t sign until after she announced, and I believe it was for that reason.

It's an incidental expense, but we don't really do small things well administratively.
I think if Dawn wanted it televised it would be. She does the whole fan experience with the food trucks, stuff for the kids, a raffle, giveaways, the whole 9 yards. Maybe she believes televising it might cut into the attendance for that. IDK but if Dawn really wants something she gets it so can’t imagine the school turning her down for something like that.

It's more than just Eniya....

It doesn’t matter. We have lots of talent and will sign plenty more. Let her go.
Agreed , SC did not need Reese nor do they need her now.

123-32 exhibition win over Benedict College. The score was expected - Benedict is just over-matched. Eight (8 ) Gamecocks in double-digits. Freshmen Watkins (11 pts, 9 reb, 2 steals) and Cooper (11 pts, 9 rebs, 6 assists, 6 steals, 2 blocks) had strong contributions, although Coop had a lot of takes to get those. Cooke and Hall led with 19 pts each, and soph. Feagin had 17 pts, 12 rebs, and 4 steals. Thompson added 14 pts, and Amihere had 11 pts, 6 rebs, 6 assists, and 2 blocks, and Cardoso chipped in with 10 pts and 8 boards.

Super Senior and projected starter Victaria Saxton (foot) did not play, and PGs Johnson and Fletcher also did not participate....

Let’s not get too excited over the performance of a Big against a team we beat by almost 100 points.

I am concerned that both point guards were held out.

From why I’ve heard both could have played but were held out for precautionary reason. It’s a long season why did playing them against Benedict? Raven is closer than Kierra but I think both will likely play a little next week to knock off the rust and prepare for Maryland.

I second this. Especially with an ACL, the last thing you want to see is regression.

Dawn said in her post game that Raven could’ve played if necessary, but yeah.. no reason to rush them back for an exhibition. I would rather bring them back slowly than rush them back with anything nagging. We need them both now, but we need Raven long term for the years ahead. No nagging injuries.

Very Candace Parker-esque. She’s a star in the making.
total 360 from the player i saw last season with her body , handles and speed . Last season i felt she would end up transferring with the addition of watkins and due to her size and footspeed being stuck in a PF/C position. This new found Feagan looks like a premier SF/PF type player for sure. Very impressed with her offseason i hope it translates to the regular season against formibdable opponents. She makes SC next season a contender with KC , Raven & Hall , and one of the seniors that return for a 5th year.

I would have thought that you'd have wanted to give Raven some minutes in this game just to get her on the court and run a few things.

We'll just have to see her health and conditioning next week.

This would be my thought process as well especially if the game was never going to be in question at the end . Why not give her a little burn to get some play under her belt and assess how she's progressing post injury unless she's not ready to play ?

I’ve been watching her since HS long before she was a gamecock and she’s always had that skill set. She just needed to get into college shape and like you said change her body to stay on the court. Now that she’s done that look out! I expect some good minutes and production from her and it’s going to surprise ALOT of ppl.
