Our current roster is 13 and we have 5 true seniors (that still have an extra COVID year) and 2 super seniors that are gone for sure.

If all 7 leave.. we’ll have, minus the freshman:

K. Cardoso - Senior
Sania Feagin - Junior
Bree Hall - Junior
Raven Johnson - Junior
Ashlyn Watkins - Sophomore
Talaysia Cooper - Sophomore

Six players. We have the room and the need. Boston and Cooke are for sure gone. LA and Beal are question marks but still pretty likely. Thompson is likely gone via transfer portal.
I could see both LA and Beal staying. I love both but think they each need more development in order to make it in the league.

I thought the new fam addition would be fulwiley but instead Kitts. So it does seem Fulwiley and SC have long lost that connection since middle school :( . I knew the signing of cooper would make it tough for Dawn to get Fulwiley but i guess she chose the one she wanted who could arrive sooner.
Fulwiley doesn't commit to the 10th, I still think there's a high chance she signs with us. She's really close to Watkins, Cooper and I believe Feagin too and she seemed to really enjoy her OV too.

I posted Milaysia’s OV IG video in post #262. Doesn’t appear USC lost connection with her. Now she may still choose to go elsewhere but we won’t know till 11/10 when she announces. She OV’d Louisville along with Kitts so hopefully she follows Chloe to USC.

Fulwiley also has a good relationship with Kitts from their experience playing at Overtime.

They haven't lost a connection. In fact, Dawn or somebody from the staff is at every game they could possibly be at and have been for 6 years. Cooper, MF, and Watkins are a group and great friends. The 3 of them have talked about playing together at SC for a long time. That doesn't mean she's a lock, but you talk like Dawn offered her in the 7th grad and then just ghosted her for 5 years. There is NO truth to that. Milaysia lives about 10 mins from campus and she is good friends with a number of players on the team. We have plenty of scholarships available and plenty of PT next year, especially for guards. I actually was worried that Chloe and Fulwiley were going to LV to play together. They have played in a number of All-Star challenges together this past summer and got to be friends.

It seems to me that Cooke actually needs a pretty big year to go very high in draft, but I suppose she can make money internationally either way.

I look forward to seeing if Beal has advanced her shooting this off-season beyond where it was as a high school senior. Simply making her share of wide open looks without passing them up would make her a vastly more valuable player.

I think Beal has WNBA level defense and embraces the physicality to thrive at the next level. I agree if her confidence on the offensiu end improves, she'll be drafted for sure. Also based on what I saw in the exhibition, I think she worked on her shot, the 3 she made was actually a pretty fast motion compared to before.

I found it interesting that Feagin got the starting nod over Amihere in the absence of Saxton.

I think with the issue of both Johnson and Fletcher not playing, there was a need for support at the PG position, and despite Cooke being slotted to cover, Amihere had as much if not more experience of playing the point as Cooke had last season, when Henderson had a leg injury and Johnson was already out with her ACL. So why play what could end up playing the majority at Point, at the Power Forward position too?

As it is, Laeticia held up her end of the deal by tying Cooper for the lead in assists for the exhibition with 6, in 5 fewer minutes of action. Also had 11 pts and 6 rebounds, so not a too bad effort from her in the game, by any measure. Until the PG position gets more solidified with both Johnson and Fletcher, I feel Staley will keep LA close by to give support there, before she totally lets her go play at Forward, since that's a position where we are NOT thin in depth........

I noticed on GamecockTwitter quite a few men that never normally have much to say about our WBB program saw Chloe and were all "uhhh...okay then...maybe I SHOULD check out this WBB team." simply bc she's a beautiful young lady.

I loved Dawn's reaction in Chloe's video. Bowyer was already full-on mama'ing her. LOL. Law Law was just chilling like..yall doubted?

Fulwiley is still listed by recruiting sites as 5’6” which she was when they started following her. Looking at recent photos of her with other prospects, she looks much taller.

Dawn is 5-6. Videos and photos of her with MiLaysia show a significant height difference. MiLaysia is not a short PG anymore. Not saying she’s a 6 footer, but it seems apparent to be that she has grown significantly since she burst on the scene as an 8th grader.

Please stay home Milaysia.

I've never thought she looked 5'6 in videos.

That's somewhere between Cuevas and Henderson.

She also didn't seem particularly small in the all classes event. But maybe she carries it well somehow.

I probably should mine my business, but seems to me that SC is running out of scholarships (or is that wishful thinking)

Anyway... Dawn Staley was at Duke yesterday speaking.

If I would have known, I would have driven down and asked her face to face why she is ducking playing Duke.
@triaddukefan, I love your sense of humor!

PROPOSAL:

I propose that we close this thread at 5:00 pm on Thursday ( after Milaysi’s decision) and open a new one entitled “Gamecocks 2022 SEC Pre-Season.”

Let it run until the SEC starts, then open a new one.

Like or dislike please.

Another recruiting site has her at 5'9. Her info has not been updated in 3 or 4 years on ESPN.
