Holy Moly. I feared we out following her Nike NIL announcement. Just goes to show . . .

Someone on the GCC MB earlier in the week brought up Dawn having a relationship with Nike and that Destanni had an NIL with Reebok as examples why it should not be assumed that the 5 athletes signed will end up automatically end up at Nike affiliated schools. I‘m not sure if the Dawn and Destanni examples are true but I did find on my own that Rhyne Howard last year had a deal with Reebok and UK is a Nike School.

Plus, when you look at the 5 signed it’s pretty obvious Nike’s foremost goal is just to get in the front door and build a relationship with these players for future deals. The other 4 signed being Haley Jones, Caitlin Clark, and top MBB HS prospect DJ Wagner and Lebron’s son Bronny, who attends the same HS as Juju.

I assume Jade-Li English would not negotiate a NLI deal that would limit the school options of her clients. My hesitation of Juju coming to USC has nothing to do with Nike, but that she’s from Southern California, which would be a huge culture change in coming to Columbia, on top of just the overall distance from home. But who knows. Three years later and I’m still gobsmacked that Aliyah chose to come to SC so Hennything’s possible.

Drew Timme was on a New Balance NIL AD but Gonzaga is a Nike school. JuJu is likely free to choose any school of her choice and still represent Nike off the court. College is only 4 years.

This is very interesting if true. Prawl is a very talented guard and impressed at U17 in Hungary this past summer as a 2025. She was also impressive at Canadian Nationals earning the MVP award for the U17 age category. Would recommend keeping an eye on her if the interest continues to be mutual.

I've read that Watkins wants to play for a program that will give her maximum visibility.

I've also read where she wants to highlight and bring awareness to local Southern California brand of basketball/athletes/programs - which I interpret as staying close to home.

Obviously, if she wants visibility for her abilities and personal brand, other than UConn, there's no better place currently than SC in women's hoops. The current state of the program (national rankings, ESPN TV exposure, playing for Dawn, the marketability examples of A'ja/Aliyah) guarantees that.

What a major coup that we made her final group and received an official visit. Speaks volumes for the staff and the program. But 3000 miles is 3000 miles so trying to keep my expectations in check for now. I would be at an A'ja Wilson commitment level of happiness if Dawn/staff can land her for the program

I think she has a very good relationship with not only Dawn but Aliyah and Jade-li as well. Aliyah and Kamilla are over 3000 miles from home and Zia, LA, Brea, and Breezy homes aren’t close either. That’s what’s special about SC. It becomes your home away from home. Hopefully she had a great visit. She would without a doubt be our best guard in program history if we can land her.

JuJu is the truth ..if SC gets her the NCAA can just hand out at least 2 more banners for SC.

Any thoughts on this? Is it all/mostly clickbait?

Not sure what this particular article says but I paid for a day pass a couple of weeks ago and they were reporting that Chloe had been a silent commit to Louisville but was having second thoughts. She’s supposed to be at Louisville live this weekend so will be interesting if she goes or not.

Lady Vol board reporting that their recruiting coach has stopped following ADR
Coach Sam seems to unfollow recruits when TN is out, has occurred with Cooper, Booker, Shade, ADR, etc.

SEC media day today. Coverage on SECN beginning at noon. Dawn, Aliyah, and Zia’s appearances are in the 6:00 hour which probably means having to talk post PC with Finebaum shoehorned in between a bunch of football talk rather than sitting down with Alyssa Lang and their panel of WBB analysts earlier in the day.

Tessa Johnson announcing her commitment tomorrow morning at 9:00 EST. USC, Baylor, and Minnesota are her final 3 schools.

I feel the strategy of unfollowing recruits, especially before they officially commit is not a winning strategy for the long term. The player could always have a change of heart and it could still be a future portal destination, but that small gesture seems more petty than helpful.

Interesting tactic when you consider how important the transfer portal is and how personally people take social media. Why would you want to potentially sever a relationship?

Exactly this.

Is ADR to SC true ? If so the big just got bigger...wow !
I know of nothing that confirms this. Vols speculate they are out. Even if true, that still leaves Louisville and LSU.

Considering UNC already has 2 posts in this class. I would think it's likely between SC and LSU if Tennessee is out.

What makes you say that? Isn't her best friend on the team
Ha I’m negative nancy but I’m skeptical. Rosario said she wants to compete for a natty. LSU is still years away from offering that plus SC has a great run going

Plus supposedly she is evaluating things for what programs can offer NIL wise which makes this all even more unpredictable

Oh understandable, I get uneasy this time a year about players commiting to SC as well. We only got our first commitment last week and I was I worried and I will remain concerned until we get some more players and the ink has dried lol.
