With the commitment of a 5-10 guard, I'm feeling less and less confident about Milaysia Fulwiley. :(

I wouldn’t give up hope. Remember we lose possibly 7 players after this season so we can take all the guards we can get! I think Tessa was a very important get. Teams definitely can’t sag off of her when she’s on the floor, and I don’t think we’ve ever had a guard as fundamentally sound as her(other than Ty probably). She’s a pure SG while lay is a CG so I do think they could play together. Next two weeks will be interesting for sure.

Yep , she's been swaying away for a while. This is something i mentioned a week ago or so. Not to put all our chips in on Fulwiley , started with the Talaysia Cooper signing .

They’re actually great friends. They train together and play pickup games all the time.

I should have specified , it was not in a personal way between the 2 or even specifically in regards to cooper but more so in a depth chart way at SC.

SC loses possibility 7 players though. There’s plenty of playing time but I could see her wanting to be the centerpiece for another school. Who knows. If SC lands her and Watkins… lights out.

Yall definitely need outside shooting. Imagine how far yall could go if yall ever landed a pure shooter.
I mean what’s further than national championships? :D Lmaooo but no seriously you’re looking at her right now.

Another video if the first didn’t convince you

I think Triad means there would have been several more than 2 by now had this been the case.

I know lol just poking fun. I’ve always said if we had a couple pure shooters on past teams we would’ve been much better.

I really like Fulwiley, but I’d skip a PG in this class if it puts us in better position for Cambridge next year.

Watched the clips. Nice soft touch on display from Tessa. At a minimum, I can definitely see her in a role similar to Destiny Littleton the past couple of years. If she develops more athletically and can play the type of defense that DS expects, she'll earn starter minutes.
Good pickup.

I've read that Watkins wants to play for a program that will give her maximum visibility.

I've also read where she wants to highlight and bring awareness to local Southern California brand of basketball/athletes/programs - which I interpret as staying close to home.

Obviously, if she wants visibility for her abilities and personal brand, other than UConn, there's no better place currently than SC in women's hoops. The current state of the program (national rankings, ESPN TV exposure, playing for Dawn, the marketability examples of A'ja/Aliyah) guarantees that.

What a major coup that we made her final group and received an official visit. Speaks volumes for the staff and the program. But 3000 miles is 3000 miles so trying to keep my expectations in check for now. I would be at an A'ja Wilson commitment level of happiness if Dawn/staff can land her for the program
You guys got Aliyah Boston who at the time was a UConn lean. Dawn and Jolette law did a wonderful job pulling THAT rabbit out of the hat. Anything is possible. The rumor mill says Watkins wants to stay close to home, but it would not surprise me to read that she has succumbed to the charms and glamour of your program and committed to South Carolina. My reaction would be......ho hum, what else is new?

I think she has a very good relationship with not only Dawn but Aliyah and Jade-li as well. Aliyah and Kamilla are over 3000 miles from home and Zia, LA, Brea, and Breezy homes aren’t close either. That’s what’s special about SC. It becomes your home away from home. Hopefully she had a great visit. She would without a doubt be our best guard in program history if we can land her.

Not quite 3,000 miles for Aliyah, but close.

Tessa is a pure Shooter/ Scorer! I still think she’s underrated in her class.

I'm going to keep my eye on Crooks next year. I don't think she can play at the pace of D1 WCBB at her current size.

Tiffany Mitchell was a first team All American and SEC player of the year and the first great player of the Dawn Staley era.

She doesn't get her due: her jersey should be hanging.

My favorite of Dawn's teams (and therefore my perhaps biased view of her best) was the team that didn't get to play it out.

That was a really good shooting team that stretched the floor.

I hope we have ones that look like that again. We do tend to bludgeon even on the perimeter.

All the strength she need is there but she must get in shape! If she can lose about 30-40 pounds and lean out muscle wise I think she’ll be a beast for Iowa St. I suppose her first year will be that year where she does that also while learning and developing.

I still watch games from that season lol. I think the tournament that year probably would’ve been the best. The 2019 class came in balling!
