This conference is going to be a lot more fun having Sauron and Saruman in it.There's a classy way to go about finding a new job. This is not it.

It's low class on so many levels. The whole speaking to the media last night from his DC hotel room while wearing Friars gear and saying Providence will always be his dream job was the final knife turn. Everything was handled so badly on his part that it makes me wonder if this was some sort of vindictive payback. He's a savvy guy, it doesn't make sense for him to damage Providence like this. The school and fanbase don't deserve this.I couldn't be any more ticked off.
Your avatar is a really flattering picture of Cooley.Cooley went from father figure to dollar figures
Honestly I'd be interested to hear from players or assistant coaches if they felt like Cooley was kind of done 3 weeks ago. They sure played that way.Leaving is one thing. Leaving but staying in the conference? That's not a good look, especially after he's filming the us, we, me, you videos or what they're called.
Also, this looks like it's been done for a month which seems to coincide with him checking out of the season....just an awful look.
I don’t care too much to speculate on this, but I kind of wonder why a current staff member would lie to a recent alumni player’s father about this. A key member of the S16 run at thatEven Watson's dad feels bamboozled. Lol This was handled as poorly as can be. It's not that he's leaving. It's the way he did it. Comes off as a real phoney.
This is very likely true but there is a tremendous difference.Anyone feeling sympathetic towards PC fans just take few minutes and read one of their UConn threads on the Richard Coren friends and neighbors site. They (including our pal FJ) hate us with their entire beings and would be laughing their asses off if the same thing happened here.
Our DMV is filled with a lot of retirees and other people you don't want to be driving around.the DMV is one of the best recruiting areas in the country and cooley wont have to directly compete with us for any decent new england kids.

This will be 10x worse when Cooley scalps the Friars roster and brings Hopkins, Carter, Pierre, and Floyd with him to Washington.
Talk about scorched earth policy.
That's a possibility or maybe the staff member is going with Cooley to GTown and needs to stay loyal. Who knows. All speculation. What a wacky situation all around.I don’t care too much to speculate on this, but I kind of wonder why a current staff member would lie to a recent alumni player’s father about this. A key member of the S16 run at that
Unless the staff member really thought Cooley was staying and is as equally surprised as Watson’s dad?
Really bad look all around..

Kid was attending the Seton Hall game (I think) where they got blown out at the end of the regular season and had never signed a NLI, so not a surprise.3, 2, 1...on him visiting Georgetown.
Georgetown at PC should be on PPV next year.
My gut says Georgetown is looking for a “certain type” of coach. Wink winkTrue, GTown has an endowment others in the BE would be jealous of for sure. But if GTown really wanted to become big time they should have just gone after Pitino, who fall of his foibles, and he has a lot them, is an elite HOF coach. SuperJohn made that point above. Maybe GTown didn't want the image of Pitino being associated with GTown, but from a strictly basketball perspective paying Pitino $4M/year is better than paying Cooley $6M/year.
There a ton of posts from me about why I didn't think this would happen. End of the day it seems to be $ + a guy (and especially his wife) who have been in one place too long. Would be fine if he wasn't blowing smoke at everyone for the last few years. For everyone talking about chasing the spotlight, he will be vastly more anonymous in DC.Everything about the man is being viewed in a new light. Even at my age I wanted dearly to believe. What a putz I am.
Maybe they can just play the theme from Rawhide. They might seriously have to put chicken wire around the Georgetown bench.
