I’m thinking of a combination of high speed internet, a Roku, YouTube Tv, Philos, & Netflix to kill the cable bill. Viewing their channels they’re missing SNY, YES, & NESN. How do I get those?

I’m not seeing that as a YTTV subscriber, that I have access to ESPN+
I see they want $5.99/month for that privilege

I was replying to @M.S.G. , He has a bundle that includes HULU, Disney+ and ESPN+. If he's planning on getting YouTube TV also, he'll be fully covered with sports .

I have YouTube TV, that's pretty much all you need as your "provider credentials" to log into the ESPN app and watch not only ESPN content but also SECN, ACCN. Within the app you will also have the ESPN+ channels from your bundle, you'll have two different login credentials. Hope this helps, can't figure out what "OTA" means...is it Over The Air?
Yes , OTA means over the air.

The old rabbit ears for local channels.

Thanks for all the input guys, this was helpful. Making one last run @ DirecTV today, if they don't drop my bill down substantially, YouTubeTV it is.

When I called to cancel last month, they immediately threw $60 off for 6 months at me. I told them I wasn't interested and I made up my mind to cancel. I probably could have got a sweet deal, but wasn't interested.

It's sad, one has to "play" this game with cable companies. Until these live streaming services came to be, I did the same thing year-in-year-out with Comcast. First chance I got cancelled the cable portion and switched to the Live TV streaming services and never looked back. One of the best feature, IMO, no service contract with these services unlike cable companies...if you don't like this service because it raised prices (or other reason)....cancel and get another one. Now if I can also do away with Comcast's internet I will be free at last.

Agree but the internet is darn good where I am. What kind of deal did you get for the carve out internet service?

When I cut the cable from Comcast (2 years ago) internet price was $89.95, not sure if it's called Performance or Performance Plus, but at time download speed was around 150Mbps...now two years later it's 250Mbps but they also increased "couple bucks every year", now paying $95.95. Mind you this is with my own modem. I'm happy with download speed. I have another choice in my area for internet and that's Frontier...but max download 25Mbps (lol). For now have no other choice, they're going to try to get the most from you regardless.

I believe I may be able to get the next lowest internet deal Comcast has...maybe save $10/month but at this point I don't even want to mess with how things are.

Just got off the phone with DirecTV, got them down to $130 a month for the next 12 months. So they received a stay of execution.

I could have got it down to $100 by dropping a tier but CBS Sports and NBATV are not on the next tier. Do I watch those channels 5 nights a week? No. However, I would notice if they weren't there.

To be perfectly honest I'm more angry that I pay $70 a month for internet! Where we live there are no other options, utterly ridiculous.

I could probably get a cable TV bundle for $150 total with internet included but cable TV stinks out loud. I guess I am just a DirecTV honk.

You could probably get it for $90 if you have any competition in your area.

Yeah I just looked at Spectrum's bundles. If I wasn't so indentured to DirecTV I'd leave in a second. I could definitely get everything I get now for about a $100 bundle.

I just think the picture from DirecTV is clearer and more pure compared to cable.

Is that in my head, or is there something to it?

I got my 2nd shot this morning so my brain is a marshmallow.

Question on all the streaming stuff. So almost everything I watch is via DVR (not UConn games of course). Is there a way to record football games, other shows, etc.? How does that work? The other problem is guess is just a me problem. Wife has no idea or interest in learning to use streaming or different devices to watch stuff.
You Tube TV is the leading streaming service with a unlimited DVR space. Saves for 9 months.

.-.
My main reason for keeping You Tube TV has been multiple user logins and availability of local news stations. I have two networks I can't get with OTA antenna.

I realize I am only one in my house who regularly watches You Tube TV.

I think in next few months I'm switching to Hulu Live packaged with Hulu and ESPN+.

It's strictly cost. You Tube TV is getting stupid with price raising, but until they start losing customers they'll keep on raising.

Hulu does have less networks compared to YTTV. Sports networks like NFL, MLB, NBA.

Now things are getting really annoying with YouTubeTv. I just received an email from Roku about a dispute with YouTubeTV and that they may not carry YouTubeTV if it is not resolved. YouTubeTv dropped NESN/YES last October too. This seems like an ongoing theme, and now every TV with Roku won’t work? Come on!

How bad is FuboTV?

Switching providers used to be such a hassle, now it's nothing. Free marketing info for Youtube.tv, I'm not dropping Roku.

I think we are still in a major transition stage for streaming. YouTubeTV appears to be trying to be cable tv. They brag about adding more content, but much of it is the same crap I walked away from with cable. I still think we are heading towards more modular packages/stations. At first I thought that would be a bad thing, but then I realized that I don't need 98% of what is on YTTV.

But I also think Roku and Firestick are going to have issues as well. They are basically the cable box... or the iphone, yet they are trying to continuing fees on their stick. They took a long time to approve other streaming apps. I thought that was the content-provider's fault, but I can see it being Roku/Amazon. I can't imagine it's hard for competitors to pop up that will be more expensive (because they have less continuing revenue), but more open.

as always, the answer is elon. i messed with the howard hughes satnet last year, but it's still wonky. it will get better, way better. the chinese are freaking out cuz, you know, freedom, leaky net clampdown, the whole kit and kaboodle of our vastly superior technology based on choice.
howard hughes and elon musk. one dead, one alive, and both laughing from the finish line while everrone else is still tying their shoes at the starting gate.

Frankly, now that Basketball season is over with, College anyway, thinking about cancelling YouTube TV until next season.

Seen some YouTube videos on this Starlink service. setup seems to be easy, small dish that comes with it, self activates to find the best satellite available...and with a price of roughly $100/month. Initial cost around...I believe just under $500.

and speaking aboot the obvious, and having almost zero knowlege aboot 'movies,' i always found dis one to be highly prescient:
'The resistance group look to hijack the ICS broadcast network's uplink facilities to expose the government's lies.' key word -'uplink.'
The Running Man (1987 film) - Wikipedia 34 years ago. some of those ol timey sci-fi movies were so on it. like dis one:
The Andromeda Strain (film) - Wikipedia forget the extraterrestrial stuff. key word 'virulent,' ie unknown bug.
the running man?
'The original 1987 film received mixed reviews, though it has been praised for accurately predicting elements of 21st century life that have indeed come to pass.'
Edgar Wright Directing Stephen King’s The Running Man at Paramount | IndieWire aboot time. ahh, the classics.
cord cutting, indeed.

Anyone know if municipal broadband is allowed in CT? I feel like this would solve a lot of the pricing issues with internet providers. Currently paying over $100 for 300 mbs speed, which is ridiculous

I have had good luck with Fubo TV for about a year, but will drop it when something better comes along. No YES, but I am a Red Sox fan. No CNN, but I don’t watch news. No TNT, TBS, TRU TV which made it tough to follow NCAA Tournament, but I didn’t give a crap once UConn lost.

On very rare occasions I get buffering, but not sure if it’s a FUBO issue, or a GoNetSpeed issue.

How is the Fubo DVR?

Does anyone know how fast and how reliable CenturyLink and Spectrum are for internet?

Spectrum is "OK" but highly local-system dependent. In my experience, it's the worst of cable providers, but better than any reasonable DSL alternative.

Switched to T-Mobile for cellular. The plan includes Netflix for free and $10 off a month on YouTubeTV.
