Bracketology

True, Freeman-Liberty could give us fits and create early foul trouble. We're lucky we missed him 1st time.

Exactly my thought if these guys aren’t focused on one game at a time. DePaul can score the ball, we can’t. Defense and rebounding needs to be on point all game.

I love hating on providence but I would honestly be so pissed if I was a providence fan. They won the big east, they are 24-4, they have wins over wisconsin and texas tech. And yet Lunardi has them as a 4 seed

He is such a I have no idea why he is “bracketology”. Agree if a PC fan I’d be very unhappy with his analysis at this point.

Eh, they get their first conference regular season title by winning 2 less games then Nova and going 0-2 against them. Beating Wisconsin without Johnny Davis and TT at home is evened out by getting blown out by UVA in the non-conference. Based on their metrics a 3/4 seems right now.

If they go out and win the BET they will likely get a 2 seed.

Just a heads up that this is not just a Lunardi thing. The NCAA itself released a preview of the Top 16 seeds a couple weeks ago and Providence was a 4-seed then too. Computer metrics just hate them.

Nothing but a gut feeling based on decades of following this but if Providence wins the BET, I would be stunned if they don't end up as a two seed, even if all three tournament wins are by one point in double OT. A BE regular season and tournament champion that also went 10-1 out of conference would have to be no worse than a two seed.

Saying DePaul can score the ball and we can’t is such a ridiculous statement.

Ridiculous maybe a little, but pretty sure we haven’t put together a 99 and 91 2 game stretch in the Big East have we? Let me know Ant when you look it up.

I’m almost positive we haven’t. We also haven’t had a 2 game stretch where we’ve scored 48 and 50. We average 76.8 ppg, DePaul average 73.5. In our first matchup they scored 50. For a cherry on top, we are more efficient across almost every offensive statistical category.

Ok you win I give lol

They can score that was my point enjoy your damn victory never ends!

They're in, I'd say the only BE team who's not safe is Xavier. Hard to see the other 6 being on the wrong side of the bubble even with a 1st round loss
What if they lose to St. John’s tonight?

They are in safely because they played seven P5/high major conferences OOC. They can lose tonight and in the BET and still be safely in.

Their seed would definitely drop but I'm not sure enough to leave them out. Losses to St John's and Georgetown might drop them to an 11 seed or something, but I think they have enough good wins to have a better resume than the other bottom teams

OK, St.John's is not an awful team though. Wouldn't shock me they win. BTW, if Duke loses coach K's last home game they should drop to a 7 seed!

it looks to me like we’re firmly a 5 seed if things ended today, but if we win our first two BET tourney games, presumably over two tourney teams in Hall and Nova, then we should be a 4, or at least have a really really good shot at it. If we win the BET I think we have a strong chance at a 3. However, lose to Hall/Gtown and we could end up sliding to a 6 possibly.

That’s my take based on all these projections I’m seeing.

Team Rankings has us as the second-lowest five seed…and Duke as the second-highest four seed. Everyone else has Duke as a two, so I think this is just an outlier. I’d love to see Duke, but not in the second round.

OK but what is the big advantage of a 4? No matter we are a 4,5, or 6 we gotta beat a quality team in the second game and then hopefully get lucky that a 1 or 2 gets knocked off. A 3 seed makes a difference so let’s just win the BE tourney.

There have been 54 11 vs 6 upsets, 51 12 vs 5 upsets, 31 13 vs 4 upsets and 22 14 vs 3 upsets. The second game isnt what I'm worried about; I would much rather be a 3 or 4 facing a LBSU, Princeton, New Mexico State etc than a 5 or 6 facing an underseeded Rutgers, Davidson or San Fran.
