Where are the CT slice places?
What the best pizza you can get these days in southeast CT/New London area? I don’t like a lot of stuff on it
Yes, of course. It's impossible for a Connecticut suburban pizzeria to sell slices that are fresh. There's just not enough traffic. Where a place in Manhattan has lots of people walking by that can grab a slice.Meaning I'm on the Berlin Tpke and I want a slice and there's a random place with slices. Most have been just okay. Meanwhile randomly walking through Manhattan and going into some $1.50 slice place and I've found those to be better. YMMV.
Plenty of places have slices. Mario's in Waterbury, Pietro's in downtown Hartford, Michel Angelo's in Rocky Hill, Three Fellas in Marlborough, Giovanni's in Glastonbury come to mind. Problem is they mostly suck

2 Wives, Recovery Room, NY Pizza, and Fireside (under new ownership), even Illiano's are all decent in that area.
I liked Three Fellas better when it wasn't in an Atlantis gas station.I likeThree Fellas although, odd as it may sound, I find it significantly better cold than hot. Michelangelo's CAN be good but that is such a skeevy place inside and I've heard things over the years working in Rocky Hill.
Agree 10000%. It was also cheaper.I liked Three Fellas better when it wasn't in an Atlantis gas station.
It's not bad but it used to be better before they torn down the old gas station and 7-Eleven/Three Fellas building.
I have never had a bad pizza from Michel Angelo's in Rocky Hill, though not New Haven style apizza. It is better than some of the surrounding area pizza places (including Sally's in Wethersfield). Definitely not very modern or fancy inside but not "skeevy" as you say, and you don't want to know about some of the big name resturants and what they do. You would not go out to eat then.I likeThree Fellas although, odd as it may sound, I find it significantly better cold than hot. But it was never cheap. Astonishing what they charged compared to the other decent spots in surrounding townsAgree 10000%. It was also cheaper.
Vincitori Apizza in NianticWhat the best pizza you can get these days in southeast CT/New London area? I don’t like a lot of stuff on it
Second this list ++Sapore in Old LymeVincitori Apizza in Niantic
Nino's in Uncasville Norwich area, perhaps Friendly Pizza in same area.
Fireside Pizza in Gales Ferry got good reviews from the Hartford Courant FWIW.
Pepe's at the Sun on off hours.
I have no complaints about Pepe's from Mohegan Sun and I have grabbed clam pies from there multiple times.Vincitori Apizza in Niantic

edit: Village Pizza in Preston City
Agree that it’s better than most is the surrounding places. Have always found it odd that that area has pretty mediocre options. I do like Village Pizza in Wethersfield and West Side in Rocky Hill does a good Greek style.I have never had a bad pizza from Michel Angelo's in Rocky Hill, though not New Haven style apizza. How about Ernie’s and Bar? Don’t they sell by the slice, or Zuppardis maybe?Plenty of places have slices. Mario's in Waterbury, Pietro's in downtown Hartford, Michel Angelo's in Rocky Hill, Three Fellas in Marlborough, Giovanni's in Glastonbury come to mind. Problem is they mostly suck
No, someone started a different thread about best pizza near Fairfield in January and it got merged into this oneHas there always been a poll at the top of this thread?

Being from the same area and agreeing on both of those choices, if you haven't tried Carbones specialty pizzas, I highly recommend them.Agree that it’s better than most is the surrounding places. If the "best of" poll thingy is going to continue to be there, it'd be nice to rotate it across each county in CT.No, someone started a different thread about best pizza near Fairfield in January and it got merged into this one
Random... But does anyone have a rec for a favorite place in Colchester? Have to be over there and figured, why not get pizza? I feel like I've had Plum Tomato but I do not remember if it was good or not.
I agree with this. Almost all of the neighborhood slice places in NYC are very good and consistently better than the random CT slice places. Not all of them mind you. But I’ve been very disappointed in some random CT slices. Can’t say I’ve felt the same in NYC. YMMV.
Scroll back a page beginning @ post #8542Any thoughts on NL? Back in the day, Campus and Central were good. Others not. Ocean was popular w the HS crowd (near home), but it was soft and gooey.
