OT: Best Pizza in CT

On a slightly different tack:

What toppings are favored around CT? I've seen some strange toppings listed that I wouldn't want on ANY pizza, any style.

I go for the generally Italian meats, like pepperoni, sausage, linguica, salami. Most of the time, just one or two toppings. If I have pesto, just pesto and cheese, nothing else. A little parmesan sprinkle, maybe.

No clam, bbq, potato, chicken, veggies, bell peppers... EVAH.

Not even bacon, though I love the stuff by itself...

I get it if you don’t eat clams but if you do and don’t try the Zuppardi’s white clam you’ll be missing out on an amazing pie.

Willy pizza has fallen off a cliff from what I remember as a student at UConn. I went back last fall after a Gampel game and was disgusted (and partially offended) by the pizzas I got; and my standards for acceptable/edible pizza are hilariously low at least compared to the snobs in this thread

I certainly considered that lamooo but I was definitely not sober for my most recent trip either. Just absolutely disgraceful. Would’ve rather turned back to campus, gone to the dining hall, and get a slice from under the heat lamps.

I like plain cheese or 1 topping, either pepperoni or sausage. That's the other great thing about the New Haven area joints, they use top shelf homemade sausage and pepperoni.

I'm the same way with a hamburger. I like cheese on it. A lot of these places that get voted best burger have like 5 toppings on it, the meat should speak for itself.

Yeah, I goofed there... it's Portuguese. But it fits right in with the Italian stuff.

Recently had Rossini's in East Hampton, CT again. I gotta think it's the best pizza east of the river. Very affordable too - a large pepperoni pie was gigantic and $22.50ish all in

It’s pretty good. Literally had it last night as I live 48 seconds away. They are also the nicest people ever.

I have been looking for good pizza in Mexico. Considering MX has such good food they have surprisingly average pizza. I have not found anything that really knocks my socks off in my city of Monterrey, but I found some really excellent pizza in the city of Queretaro.

I have been looking for good pizza in Mexico. Considering MX has such good food they have surprisingly average pizza. I have not found anything that really knocks my socks off in my city of Monterrey, but I found some really excellent pizza in the city of Queretaro.

I finally went to Mondo in Middletown this weekend and it didn’t disappoint. As other have generally noted, it might not be up there with the top New Haven places, but I’d put it in the next tier. My fresh tomato and basil pie was delicious. I had a slice of my son’s bacon pizza, which was also excellent. My wife added prosciutto and arugula to a red pizza with mozzarella, as opposed to the prosciutto and arugula white pie. It wasn’t as good as her favorite version of that (Keste in NYC), but it was tasty.

We enjoyed Sicily when we were in Middletown for lunch a few years back, and I’d definitely like to hit that up again.

When I lived in Mexico City, only places with decent pizzas were the sit down wood oven Neapolitan places. I would hope that that would've changed over the years, but otherwise Dominos pretty much owned take out.

Open your own place, it’s a great niche, Mexican folks don’t know better, expats will be happy to have anything besides dominos

I tried it the day they opened. It was good but not on the level of the Wooster St. location when they are on top of their game. My office is close to there and it beats out any of the other places I have tried in that area.

There's one here in Houston ... NOT a pizza capitol by any means. Mondo has become the go-to

Not Connecticut bur Treehouse Brewery makes a really nice pie. Tried Cheese and Margherita (which needed more cheese). Pepperoni looked excellent. Crisp thin crust, perfectly cooked. Not my picture. Dave P gave it a 7.9. I tried at the Sandwich location.
