I wasn't wild about Pepe's white clam pie, and I'm a seafood man through and through. It was good, but not exceptional.
Have to admit that I felt the same about the white clam pie I had at Pepe's most recently, a couple weeks ago. It was my first time there in almost two years, and I was surprised that the crust on the white clam was noticeably thicker than usual, and the pie did not blow me away like I remembered it used to.Uh, the pizza at Pepe's today was much thicker than normal. Weird. Maybe the 30th time I've been there in my life, never had that happen before.
Actually very underrated was Bimonte's in Hamden, may have been as good.
