2019/20 UConn Recruiting

William Monroe's game was cancelled today due to weather conditions. Sam Brunelle's coach spent the free time tweeting.

Today (Sat) Bueckers and Hopkins beat Iowa City West, the No 1 team in Iowa, 67-48 in the feature of the Breakdown Tournament in Minnetonka, Mn, just a short ride from Frostbite Falls.

Bueckers was the POG with 27 points.

From the writeup:

"Bueckers was superb, scoring on long bombs, floaters, drives to the basket and, every so often, a straight-up jump shot. The Trojans didn't have anyone who could stay with her."

From reports it appears that Geno was supposed to be at the game.

I find it a bit strange to see a high school coach tweeting individual player stats no matter how outstanding they are...............that's something I'd expect from an AAU coach who's getting paid to get his/her players a college scholarship..............as far as I know Sam already has offers from the very best programs in the country..............

Aliyah Boston had a big week after returning from Hartford.

She had 16 points and 15 rebounds followed by a triple double of 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 blocks.

Cameron Brink scored 15 points Saturday (12/9) but her team Southridge came up short in the title game of the Lolani Classic. Brink was named the most outstanding player of the tourney.

I think I read somewhere that Aliyah is a dominant rebounder and defender. Does that sound right?

I was thinking Dikembe Mutombo type of shot blocker. Not good, not really good, but really, really, really good.

So the dream scenario for UConn are the Killer B's: Brunelle and Boston in 2019 and Bueckers and Brink in 2020?

You got it!!!

Brunelle really can stretch the floor and make you pay from beyond three point arc. Think KLS 2.0.

If I can have one it's her then I'd figure the rest out. I do think Boston has high mutual interest in us as well.

Let's not forget Aubrey Griffin from Ossining High who took an unofficial to UConn last year................was considered one of the top '19 forwards in the country until sidelined by an ACL tear....................she's back and had 22 points the other night in one of her first games back......................we really should be following her as she is a special local talent

Griffin took an unofficial this year too. She visited unofficially (as did her brother) at the end of October.

Aubrey's first name starts with the right letter, so we can get her.

Haley Jones' Friday stats (12/8) according to Sue Phillips:

20 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 blocks

Here's another Minnesota player same age as Bueckers from two seasons ago. Probably not an elite prospect but fun to watch.
