I was trying to look for data to get into this but unfortunately it doesn't look like fangraphs has plate discipline splits by month. Just looking at the season pitch stats though, the big number that sticks out is his ~20% contact rate on sliders out of the zone. Overall, he has the fourth worst contact rate on pitches out of the zone (for qualified hitters) behind Sano, Gallo, and Reynolds. At this point, I still think Stanton is a pretty good comp with probably a worse K-rate (and average), but a higher BB rate to make up for it. Value-wise though, I think similar.
We're talking about the guys that went 1/5 with 3 walks? Not sure I'd qualify getting on base in half your plate appearances as "sucking huge".
Well those numbers don't remotely line up. If he's striking out every other at bat and only hitting 28 per year, he's going to be hitting a lot less than .265. I mean heck, .265 with 28 HRs and his walk rates would be one of the best ofdensive players in baseball.

Not relevant at all to my point. You spend an inordinate amount of time and energy on at least this site (and I would assume others) tracking and dumping on an MLB player.
