I attended a few Temple spring practices and parts of it felt like I was watching a street fight! The intensity is unreal. The urban kids are gonna continue to gravitate to this new "philly tuff" style. 10,000 sq ft weight room, indoor field on the way, new dorms for players accross the street from the practice facility and a coach with a larger than life personality. They're gonna sneak in and get kids that nobody expects like Buddy Brown. Shocked about Klecko (but I can also see that dogfight practice style intimidating a suburban kid big time!) For UConn its gonna be the relationships and trust. (the facilities don't hurt either). The kids always come away pleased when they visit.

Rutgers has cooled off on Zeff and they may no longer we recruiting him from what I understand, it may be mutual. Monty is a must get IMO, it will be hard, but he would be the crown jewel of this class if we land him.

Kleco was not a surprise, he was a slient commit a few weeks ago and the Rutgers writers gave subtle hints about his impending commitment.

I think we'll start to pick up steam when the dominos start to fall after Rogers, Ogun and Gus decide, just my opinion.

Just a couple names I've noticed. Willis should pick sometime next month would be pretty suprised if it's not BC. Thompson is all BC at this point not really sure whether he's the one we want(think we are waiting until after all the camps) and then Montgomery is BCs to lose at this point. UVA is the biggest threat ATM.

FTR, Battle thinks that Belfort may be embellishing his offers with the guys at Rivals.

I think that he likes UConn a lot(along with Camara), but I don't think he has an offer.

Dorian Miller is a guy that Rutgers has been on since his freshman year. It will be tough to pull him out of Jersey, but he seems to like UConn a lot and I don't know if he's even been on campus yet. He should go down to the wire. High 3 star/low 4 star so he seems to be pretty good.

Stapleton went to Oklahoma for a camp after his freshman year and played very well, but it seems like he's gone into hiding recently.

Miller is more open than you might think, Rutgers is a bit worried, not necessarily about Uconn, but about how open Miller is to leaving Jersey.

This is from Chad Christen's twitter:

OK, didn't know football was real big at the prep level in Germany.... I'd be shocked if the kid were to commit and make an impact anytime soon... If it does happen I'd be happy though...

Then maybe you would be surprised by this...

American football will never come close to challenging soccer's dominance in Europe. But the Adler and their fans, along with others across the continent, make up a thriving subculture that has embraced the American game. In Germany alone there are hundreds of teams, thousands of players and tens of thousands of fans who closely follow the German Football League.

I remember watching Markus Kuhn of NC State dominate a game from his DT position. He grew up in Germany and ultimately got drafted by the Giants. So.... it can happen.

Im tryin to find a name.... We went after that kid from germany last year that prep schooled in ct. He went to fsu and is playin i think
You mean Bjorn Werner?

Sebastian Vollmer as well. Played for Houston in College and was all pro two years ago for New England. Same build

Ruff committed to South Florida. From Tampa. Offensive guard, 3 stars on Scout. Had a UConn offer.

We could use a big back who can catch ... would be a great change of pace from McCombs. ... Presumably the staff wants to build up the passing game and a running back who's also a great receiver would be a great get.

If the staff saw Coggins as a slot guy, then not offering is understandable since Bradley appears to be up there with some of the best in the country and we have limited numbers.

Still, I wanted Coggins badly. It seems like he wanted a UConn offer, so maybe the staff will push later.

I read he ran a 4.75 probably due to an ankle injury he suffured last year that hassn't fully healed yet, maybe the staff was worried about the ankle? Best of luck to him at BC.

Damon is the type of athletic QB that could provide a nice spark. Reminds me of Thomas from Oregon. RB is the wrong move and I believe would put UConn out of the mix completely.
I agree bro... If we recruit a RB we should recruit a RB .. NOT a kid we have to change from his natural position.. besides a RB is a RB... It's like baseball.. a pitcher is a pitcher.. very rare cases do you see them change positions ( a la Rick Ankiel )... To me it's showing either we're happy with what we currently have and we're focusing on kids in the '14 class and beyond... or '13 kids that are true RBs being recruited by us that have ability ( and have been showcased thru the media outlets ) just don't find UCONN an attractive option....

I believe UConn has provided some very successful RBs to the next level in the past few years and I've become a big fan of the program because of its commitment to recruit top tier talent in Jersey, but the program needs to recruit a playmaker at the QB position. I agree with the philosophy of seeking out cerebral QBs to lead an offense but we often talk about what has taken obscure programs to the next level of recruiting and I believe it starts at the QB position. Skill position kids at home get excited over a team that can drop 50 on any given Saturday. Mitchell is an explosive athlete and would be a nice p/u for the Huskies. . . just not at RB! If something is goin on I dont know about that would lead to getting Zaire Williams then that would be a true RB worth getting!
