For the record, my dream scenario is that FSU takes its ball and heads to the Big 12

Let's walk through your logic: 1) FSU is awesome. Whatever. 2) The Big 10 and SEC want FSU. Doubt it, but whatever. 3) FSU and Clemson leave, ACC collapses. 4) Any of the good ACC programs find a home in one of the P3, a few dregs (Syracuse, BCU) are flailing looking for a home. 5) In this...

After taking Texas and Oklahoma, the SEC has no interest in other B12 schools, even of they were available. They add no $ value. I would imagine the folks at the Big Ten feel the same way.

Could be. I doubt that FSU or Clemson were in the original plans, but neither the B1G (non-AAU) or SEC (don't need 'em) will take them.

...junior players ( WHL, OHL, QMJHL) get paid, all the rest of the leagues are a step below and don’t get paid. For college athletics the SEC, B1G, B12, ND, and for now the ACC can be the “major” division of college athletics for all sports. Those schools financially can compete with each...

...this, but I firmly believe that UConn entering the Big 12 now will enhance certain ACC schools in the future to feel better about joining if a B1G/SEC invite isn't available. I believe our east coast location, our academics and our championship DNA will matter to other East coast institutions.

Once again, academics are meaningless in conference realignment. If they B1G wanted them, they would get them into the AAU.

Agree with all of that. Of course, if we were to win, the narrative wouldn't be about how we are showing that we're P4 ready, the narrative would be that Maryland stinks this year.

...during losing seasons. They would add massive value to either of the P2, and both of them know it. Don't believe any of the nonsense about the B1G or SEC not being interested. They're just waiting for the legal mess to clear up, whenever that is. I would wager the B1G even makes an exception...

UConn @ Maryland Terrapins (Saturday 8/31/24 @ Noon on FS1)

A win over a B1G team does not have to be against OSU. ”great moments are born from great opportunity” this is an opportunity to make a mini statement and shut some people up for at least a week. And I would say that should we somehow steal this one, it will lead to a solid year.

If this deal goes through, we will be an enticing factor to bring in some of the ACC eastern schools that don't get picked up by B1G and SEC. The ACC is toast and I’m here for it

For the record, UVA is a better school (based on academic standing) than UNC. Both are likely far closer culturally to the B1G than the SEC. Based on culture of alumni base and student body Va Tech & NC St are closer to SEC schools than UVA or UNC. I doubt the SEC has much interest in either.

UConn Headed To Big 12?? That's The Unofficial Report

The management decisions both in coaching hires and building an off campus stadium have been mind boggling. At this point the SEC and the B1G have their pick of ACC and Big 12 teams when they become available. There will be no realignment without network approval.

    UConn to Big XII Imminent?

The Big XII doesn't need to be on the same playing field as the B1G and SEC. It just has to dwarf the ACC. That's why going wide and in large numbers makes sense for the Big XII as long as it can get household brands.

This. Big 12 is winning out as the best of the rest conference. Will end up taking whatever decent scraps the SEC/B1G don’t want once the ACC implodes. Even with the 2031 deal, if those milestones are achievable, it’s the best spot.
