Blockbuster trade
Loyd wanted out. I think this is a great scenario for Seattle. Is that a good trade? I don’t follow the W closely at all.
But seems like LV makes out very well. Is a 2 pick worth giving up Loyd? Or did she want out do this is a good salvage?
Blockbuster trade
Wouldn't a person have to wait and see how the #2 pick turns out before making such a declaration? Loyd and Plum have both had good WNBA careers. It's not even close to a given whoever #2 is will end up better than one or the other or both.I would say Seattle won that trade.
Loyd better get a whole lot more efficient. She won't be getting to shoot 25 to 30 shots a game anymore, that's for sure.
Okay, it was a bit of hyperbole, but she's been free to hoist as many shots as she wanted to ever since Stewie left Seattle, and her FG% in recent seasons has left a lot to be desired.![]()

She had 16.8 last season.
I did a deep dive on this in early September, which I'll attempt to find. Primarily "just the facts," but I believe this outburst was also encouraged/needed by Coach Quinn after Stewie left. One thing Loyd does really, really well: draw fouls and get to the line.Okay, it was a bit of hyperbole, but she's been free to hoist as many shots as she wanted to ever since Stewie left Seattle, and her FG% in recent seasons has left a lot to be desired.
You could have just stopped there. Together, they make up literally 1/4 of the gold medal winning US Olympic Team. Ya think?Druthers Note: I did some research on Jewell Loyd back in September and offer it up here for some perspective on her Storm career, both "during Stewie" and post-Stewie.
Exec. Conclusion: I think she'll do much better with A'ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray, along with Becky Hammons as coach.
The Aces had a quarter of the Olympic team last year with Plum. It doesn't change anything from that aspect. Net neutral technically. You could have just stopped there. Together, they make up literally 1/4 of the gold medal winning US Olympic Team. Ya think?
Seems like LA lost out on this trade, which is funny to me because they were the only team not having their hands forced. Makes me think a new coach is not going to solve the Sparks' ongoing management issues...
And all that said, I'm really happy for Plum. She deserves happiness and finally playing in front of hometown crowds.
Of course. But the claim was that the trade was a net improvement for Loyd. And all I'm saying is, yeah, going from a toxic coach and a toxic point guard to a future HOF coach and three fellow multi-Olympic gold medalists is pretty obviously an upgrade. The Aces had a quarter of the Olympic team last year with Plum. This is when Seattle trades Skylar Diggins and the newly acquired #2 pick to Dallas for the rights to the overall First selection of the draft. This works in Paige’s favor and becomes a Storm. The UConn of the west coast.
