I really like Morrow. There is more to her game than we see now at LSU. Coach Bruno at Depaul had her play guard as a soph, and had her launch 250 threes! That was an effort to expand her game for the W.

She only made 25%, but what was important was she knew what she needed to work on, and has been at it now already for 3 years. Even though at LSU she is all about rebounds and put backs, she quietly keeps working on other parts of her game.

She's willing to be a 3 in the W and work to improve, but she still will probably be best as a small 4. Agree Mystics not best fit, but imagine her in the Kia Stokes role next to Wilson in Vegas.
People had similar concerns about Angel Reese in the pros and she was phenomenal as a rookie. Morrow’s motor is unmatched and her ability to rebound is elite. She’ll develop a jumper with more time but those two traits make her unique and I think she’ll thrive in the pros.

Agree. Jumper is already there, and used often in the 10-15 ft range. She even still shoots an occasional three, 7 for 28 on the season. (for reference KK Arnold 7-32).

Quite importantly, Morrow's jumper is a smooth repeatable motion, athletic with proper high release and a true jump shot! (actually leaving her feet )

While Reese is a great comp for Morrow, the difference is that Reese is an even better rebounder, but Morrow has a smoother offensive game both at basket and outside.

Well this looks like fun. Nice to see someone like Kevin Hart invest in supporting the WNBA. Especially after the NBA all-star game and the teasing from Rickea Jackson, Aaliyah Edwards and others. :)

The trend of WNBA games at the alma mater of players continues. ND Fans should enjoy this one. :D

Not just Domers but any fans who enjoy watching the alums of Guard U, including this one. =)

A couple of signings in the last few days that may have flown under the radar due to end-of-regular season madness:

  • Christyn Williams signed a Training Camp Contract with the Minnesota Lynx.. (Can a third Husky be on the Lynx?)
  • McKenzie Forbes signed a Training Camp Contract with the Dallas Wings
  • Morgan Bertsch signed a Training Camp Contract with the Chicago Sky. (her second stint with the Sky. She was actually sharing the power forward slot with Alanna Smith until she got injured.)

Sorry, I missed the Christyn Williams post earlier. Heck, I didn't even recognize her! Shame on me.:rolleyes:

I hate to see Cecilia leave Minnesota. She is one of my favorite players. Ashley Joens, a great talent. I hope that she makes the roster for the Dream.

I think so. Championship experience too.
@nwhoopfan

I think you have a trade that reflects where both teams currently are in the short and long of it:
- It benefits the Liberty for next year. Cloud, like so many vets, is a UFA after this season, so this is only a certain deal for this season.
Good 'enuff if a repeat is what you're after.
- The Sun are obviously rebuilding and got first round picks in two drafts, which will be on rookie contracts for a few years (probably).
In the medium- and long-term, this will help them.
That said...
  • That sound you heard was Marina Mabrey throwing yet another skillet in her kitchen.
  • And the cellphone buzz was Lindsay Allen, her former ND and Sky teammate who is now also a Sun, calling to tell her to get off the ledge and reassure her: I got you....we're in this together. ;)

The Sun have basically no one left now. Just Mabrey and Nelson-Ododa...

Yeah I keep forgetting the whole league is gonna be free agents in '26. That won't be a crazy off season. I just look at it as NY wasn't likely to get anyone at #7 pick as good as Cloud. Yeah only 1 year but the entire league is gonna be musical chairs, so who cares about the future?

This is basically Sloot aged out so they brought in a younger replacement, better on D and better 3 point shooter. They look like the team to beat until someone proves otherwise. Minny gave them a good run in the Finals but Lib should definitely be the favorite.

True. But there's a lot of basketball left to play.... all of it, in facts. ;) (Plus Stewwie had her knee scoped, so who even knows how healthy everyone will be.)

Are you getting in early on predicting the Valkyries are gonna shock the world?
By winning more than 4 games?! ;)

I'm actually feeling pretty good about how Nyanin is putting the team together. We have a lot of very young overseas talent, and while we're going to be on like a half dozen 7-day hardship contracts during Eurobasket, I think we'll have a gritty, high effort team that will make the top half of the league work hard to get a W. I think we were absolutely royally screwed with the timing of the CBA (what established pros want to come for a complete build only to leave in a year?), but I think Nyanin and Nakase are putting together a foundational core of young players on the cheap and then they can use all their cap space post-CBA renegotation to go after some bigger fish.

You pretty much gave the details to my overall topic sentence: Liberty are making a move for this year and made a decision that this veteran was the way to go.

And the Sun correctly figured "We're probably not doing much this season, so why not get two first rounders in consecutive years?"

Could be a win-win...we'll see. Now about Mabey's kitchen... (Heck, she's basically being invited to shoot her arm off -- to use Deb Antonelli';s favorite phrase -- for the season, then see where that bring her as UFA.)
