I have two daughters which makes me a Girl's Dad but I don't belong on a coaches list anymore than Nate.
Glad you appreciated the humour. And wow, you used his first name!;)

In what way?

Well, first off, congratulations to Morgan Tuck for being named General Manager, after having 4 years in the organization.

But, it certainly looks like these were -- at least -- group decisions:
  • The protected lists were formulated and sent to the league and Golden State
  • Given how the new coach was named the day after Morgan, you'd have to think she was part of a team effort on this.
  • Now, of course, that's assuming the departed GM -- now personnel guy -- is really going to do that or he's being allowed to look/urged to find a new job. But it doesn't seem that way.
  • Maybe the Sun were scared of losing her to one of tne franchises (the Tempo? Portland) and wanted to get her in the mix -- at least, formally -- for now.

Meziane knows the Euro scene really well and one of his players -- Ms. Mabrey -- was first-team All Euro last season.

Got to figure the Sun knew this before releasing their protected lists. With this in mind, did they protect Lecan, the French guard whom they drafted but stayed in Europe? And, given their frontcourt uncertainty, will they possibly move on from Thomas/Bonner/Jones and put out feelers to, say, Emma Meesemann?

I refuse to acknowledge this name until someone from the franchise confirms this official. In addition to be being blech , it's giving me PTSD from when I worked at Ford's call centre in the late 90s and dealt with customer complaints about that model vehicle.

Paraphrase here:
Lone Ranger: Well, where do we go from here, Tonto?
Tonto: What do you mean, "we?"

So, what do the Sonics do? There's obviously someone (plural, possible) who felt that they were done wrong and even though this study might've cleared the coach of wrongdoing, will that sense of "wronged" be righted?

I can't even keep track of who was allegedly zoomin' who here, but it's a challenge to building a roster.

And now there's this. Still find it ironic that it's the Chicago Sun Times who is breaking this news.

FYI - you may need to watch a fundraising video to read the entire article, but it's not behind am actual paywall from what I can tell.

  • So, based on (some of) the articles a few weeks back, we had an inkling that Jewell Loyd and Coach Quinn were not seeing eye-to-eye. One would say, this request confirms it.
  • Loyd is a native Chicagoan. Would Chicago's 2nd year GM and first-year coach have an interest in bringing her home? Gosh knows, they've needed backcourt scoring help since Marina Mabrey went to Connecticut.
  • As for Anna Costabile dropping a lot of key off-season stories (coaching turnovers at Conn, Indiana and the Seattle "storm), sometimes a local beat writer uncovers some sources that make him/her a de factor league beat writer. Pete Vecsey covered the NY Knicks for the NY Post and became the unofficial NBA scribe because he utilized his kazillion sources. Maybe Costabile is doing the same for the W?

ESPN has now reported this. I will say the detectives on Twitter said the Lloyd has unfollowed or been unfollowed, by SDS and Nneka.

Well the Tempo name is official for Toronto. The logo better not be metronome like someone joked on Twitter.

Logo is okay, but feels like it's been lifted from somewhere (*cough New Balance).

And the jokes about the name begin. Toronto residents already cracking about how the team should be called Toronto Traffic instead. Technically fair because traffic congestion is horrible.

Good name for all sorts of headlines: "Tempo Upbeat in Win!" "Tempo Off Kilter in Loss."
As for traffic, that's bad in a lot of places. Try getting to Brooklyn from New Jersey!

1). Bah - those headlines are cheesy and it's only going to get worse.

2). Oh, my friend you need to come to Toronto to see the what's going here. Brooklyn to New Jersey, I get but when NHL teams are relying on transit to get from a hotel to the Scotiabank arena, we've got issues. A 5 - 10 minute drive now takes 45 in the downtown core, regardless of time of day.

Some additional context to the Tempo name. One reason it was chosen is that it's bilingual, so the translation isn't lost when spoken by Quebecers. You can't say just French as the Quebecois version is VERY different from the Parisienne version. ;):D

I don't love the logo but by today's standards it's pretty good. Tempo is a great name, and fits well w/ WNBA's tradition of not using plurals
