Well I guess we were due for a game like this. Like I stated in a few posts back, baseball is a weird game. Fairfield had the second worst RPI of any team we played all year, and an abysmal offense. We are the 22nd ranked team in country and they beat us badly at home. Again this is baseball, you never know what is going to happen.

Was hoping for a 4 - 1 week. Still confident we could do it. The chart below has us losing 2 New England games, so this is the first. Lets get back on track tomorrow.

Weather could be a factor, too. Took a look at the schedules and Fairfield has played most of its games in the last few weeks in the Northeast while UConn has only had 3 or 4 games in the area. In the cold, the bat stings more, the ball feels different, and the ball can take demonic bounces off the frozen ground. Basically it sucks. I am an assistant coach right now on 4 youth teams (2 rec, 2 travel) and last Saturday was great while Sunday and tonight were painful.

Who would have thought at beginning of season that Umass-Lowell would be a huge and much needed win. We took care of business yesterday. Now off to a Cinci series which we should have success in. But don't want to get ahead of our selves. Lets get the first one with Feole pitching and go from there.

Looking like rain on Friday, so possibly doubleheader on Saturday. Hoping for good showing In Hartford.

Always nice to get a win after a loss. Was hoping for at least a 4-1 week. But will 3-2 would be great to save week. Again 3-2 is a 60% winning percentage. If we do that the rest of year, that gets us 18 more wins and 37 in total. That should be enough for an at-large bid.

Obviously going 2 -3 at home with 5 games that on paper were very winnable, is disappointing. Need to get back on track this week. Have 2 tough New England games, then home vs Memphis.

Chart below has to much RED for my liking. But still pretty much on pace for an At-Large bid.

Important win yesterday vs a tough Bryant team. Need to win today, but beating Northeastern is no easy task. They have split with a very good Illinois team, and have beaten BC.

Love checking this chart every week.... can I recommend a minor change to the chart.... the over 55 RPI... to Out of Conference Games.... it just confusing when you beat Bryant with good RPI and this doesn't change...

I do love checking this site every time after a game :).... Thank you

Glad you like chart. I have always lump the New England teams together regardless of RPI in a separate category. The Top 55 and Over 55 categories was just a way to break up our out of conference schedule. I will add out of conf to Top 55 and Over 55 categories. Thanks for the suggestion.

Nice solid win today vs a quality New England team. We used 8 pitchers today, and all seemed to pitch well. Also nice to see bottom 3 of order perform well. They were 5 -12 with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI. Not bad at all.

Big weekend vs Memphis. Not looking ahead ( did that last week), just looking to get a Feole win to start weekend and then go from there.

On a off topic, I really like listening to Crispino and Jones. They make a very professional and easy to listen to team. Glad to see UConn baseball getting more radio coverage. Our company did some work for Mike and his wife and found him to be a very nice guy.

Always nice to start AAC weekend with a Friday win. Very happy not to have wasted another great pitching performance from Feole and our Outstanding Bullpen. Not much in hitting department, but hats off to Anthony Nucerino with the key hit of the game. He is the Mike Woodworth of this year. Really a nice surprise , batting .340 and OB% of .446.

It would be nice if we could get off to a quick start with our bats today, if we can get into their bullpen relatively early we should be in good shape.

To bad for AAC , that ECU up 5 - 2 later in game vs #1 UCLA lost 7-5. Would love to see them get at least 1 this weekend.

Finished off a good week at 4-1. Pitching again today was very good, hoping our bats come alive this week. Have 4 away games ( UMass, 3 vs ECU). Will be an important week, that can set tone for rest of season.

Held on to a must win yesterday to start a tough week, with ECU away this weekend. Did not know how game went yesterday until 9pm last evening. With work and attending a wake was not able to follow game.

I know this has nothing to do with baseball, but wake was for a friends 36 year old son that overdosed. He was battling his addiction for over 10 years, and put himself and his family thru hell. He was such a nice young man, who had a terrible problem.

This opioid problem is such a wide spread epidemic, that affects families of all social standing. Not sure why I am ranting about this, but what a waste of what could have been a successful life.

Georgia is not very good offensively, at all. That is a winnable regional if we have good, patient at bats instead of swinging at everything first pitch.

I AM OK WITH THIS
Georgia is not very good offensively, at all. That is a winnable regional if we have good, patient at bats instead of swinging at everything first pitch.

More context:

I live in Atlanta

My wife (and her entire family) went to Georgia, her folks own a house right around the corner from Foley Field in Athens.

My mom went to FSU

This would be amazing from my perspective
