Wichita St. to AAC Next Year (Officially Official)

It's a mortal lock that UConn / SMU / Cincinnati / Wichita will all play each other in home and homes.

ECU / USF / Tulane will playing each other in home and homes is a lock as well.

Maximizing the top programs play each other is something even the AAC can't screw up.

Sadly, if the AAC is going by recent times, it will be Memphis, SMU, Cincy, WSU that will be the mortal lock.

They're not going to move the needle for TV contract, but hopefully they get some tourny credits.

They will give us some better RPI games to play against. This will matter at end of the season regarding SOS. Hopefully, Marshall stays and they can stay good. Of course most of us rather have Kansas as rivalry, but that ship sailed along with the dysfunctional soon-to-be-dead B12.

It's OK I guess, but it doesn't quicken my pace or heartbeat one iota walking into the XL to see them.

It does for me. Best conference game on the schedule, hands down. Best road game too. Maybe I'm biased, as I have followed WSU since the great teams of the 80's with Antoine Carr, Xavier McDaniel and others. My dad is from Wichita and I have a few relatives who attended the school.

I'll sum it up this way though. Shocker fans care about basketball. Can we really say that about our other conference foes? Maybe Memphis.

I hear ya - no disrespect. I'm still working through the Five Stages over the Big East.....

Feel like Cincinnati and SMU pack the house, but agreed overall, if they are ranked they become one of the best games on the slate.

Cincinnati usually brings a good crowd. SMU has recently, because these were the only good teams they've had since Jon Koncak. It's a football school. So is Houston now, despite Phi Slama Jama. Memphis cares, but isn't very good now. WSU Ranks High on National Attendance Chart

KO sounds more and more like Diaco everyday. Do we really need to wait to see how this ends?

You're making that leap from one statement crafted by a mid to low-level AD employee and attributed to KO? Jesus H. Christ. Every single program in the conference did one of those and plastered their coaches' faces over them.

Ollie Derangement Syndrome has reached endemic levels.

Not a leap, I am simply adding that statement to his catalog of nonsense. I guess I should be grateful that KO sees them as our partner in developing a basketball program.

You're lost. This is not his statement. This is off of a template the conference distributed to all of the current schools' ADs and instructed them to fill in the blanks. This is literally of absolutely no consequence. There are actual things to critique KO for, and you guys choose this? I guess I'm not surprised, seeing as you folks call people who don't think KO should be axed immediately snowflakes who go to ladies' support groups.

Besides, what the hell did you want them to release? "This is absolutely beneath UConn, we refuse to associate with garbage programs like WSU, get us out of this conference and into the ACC now!"? Did you actually think that was something they would consider saying instead? My god.

How about nothing from KO? We have a school release, that is plenty good for a conference that has its hands balls deep in our pockets and is now sending our sports teams out to Kansas year round.

Great news adding one of the more consistent CBB teams over the last five years. Great to see the AAC adding a team that could realistically be the conference's best team next season.

This is why people roll their eyes at and don't take the Fire KO crowd seriously. Every time you have temper tantrums over things that don't matter at all, your credibility drops to the point where even when your concerns are legitimate, it's hard to take you seriously.

The dude is driving our program straight into the ground and you and your crowd want to crow over WSU and pretend he is executing some master strategy with the lineup. If you are happy with WSU, or happy with where our program is and is heading, then you enabling the problem. If we were a real program,he'd be gone by now. It's that simple.

Ollie won a championship, we'll be fine, if there's a need to recover. But this year (and maybe next) are make or break for Ollie at this point.

Tubby Smith lasted 10 years at Kentucky. Tom Cream got 9 at Indiana. Those aren't real programs either, I guess.

You realize that Tubby finished 1/2 in the SEC in all but three seasons, made it to at least the second round every year, had one championship, 3 elite 8's and 2 sweet 16's otherwise. He basically got fired for only making it to the second round two years in a row. Sounds a lot better than KO, and he still got canned.

And you are basically asking us to become Indiana with the KO love.

Dude. He didn't even say the goshdarn quote. It was pre-written and his picture was slapped on top of it by an intern.

This has nothing to do with strategies or lineups. This is just you not being on the same planet as the rest of us.

How is not embarrassing myself by acting like a spoiled brat on a message board even though I'm a grown man "enabling the problem?"

You want to know what I think is our biggest obstacle to being a "real program?" Babies who refuse to come to games if we aren't playing Syracuse or Georgetown or Villanova, and whine and complain about adding a program that outdrew us with Drake and Loyola on their home schedule.

Oh yeah, because we fire KO and the guy who replaces him will definitely get back to JC levels.

Luckily for the next guy, there is now a ton of space between JC levels and KO levels, so it's hard not to imagine that 3m a year will get us an improvement in the mighty AAC.

You think we are paying that much for our next coach? Hah. Between the strain buying KO out would do on an AD already strapped for cash, OBE money running out, and the absolutely pitiful AAC payout compared to the P5, you'd be surprised.

With your imagination I imagine. With my imagination I don't imagine.

This is a Shocker welcome thread.
You cannot bash Ollie on this for heavens sake. My dog photo however, c'mon? No likes. That is relevant.

Finally, and maybe without admitting it, you have hit the truth (which I agree with) - KO is only still here because of his albatross of a contract. This is the root problem of the entire AD, absolute financial ineptitude, from the TV deal to the coaching contracts.
