What are you binge watching?

Not really "binge" watching. Slowly moving through Six Feet Under. It is the story of a family that runs a funeral home. It is a dysfunctional family fest. The most grounded character is the dead Patriarch. Everyone is in a state of constant turmoil. The mother, the brothers, the daughter, depending on the episode, they get involved with characters as strange and dysfunctional as themselves. Then Rainn Wilson shows up as Author who is exactly like Dwight Schrute from the Office. And, of course, there are ghosts. It's been very enjoyable to watch.

Possible future binge watch. Coming soon to Hulu. Brit Marling had pretty much fallen off the radar, good to see her back again. She's not the star but she's in it, plus she's the creator along w/ Zal Batmanglij. They did several interesting movies together 10 or more years ago. I think maybe that Clive Owen guy has been in a few things.

I believe that is your topic, the video is unavailable. I'm looking for my next fix so I may try this.

Dopesick (Hulu) covers the same ground and is better.

If you get HULU, I highly recommend DOPESICK. They release one episode a week, they are on episode 4 so far. All about the scourge of Opiods, Oxycontin and Perdue Phatma in particular.

This also looks interesting and will try soon. 1 season will fill a couple week gap I have nicely

Justified
Here's one thing I especially liked about the show, each season had a self-contained arc. And it also had another story that ran though every year that started in the first episode and was resolved in the last.

That's a great show. Totally underrated compared to the Wire, Sopranos and other HBO greats.

Yeah, I watched it. Enjoyed it in the beginning but got diminishing returns as the series continued. YMMV.

I started Outer range and it seemed too slow to me. I'm setting it aside for the time being and have switched to fallout. Only watch the first few, but it's entertaining enough.

From peoples comments here I suspect that fallout will fizzle and outer range will eventually build.

The Warden and I are finally getting around to watching Judge Walter White in Your Honor. Enjoyed season one and just started in on season 2.

The kid and I are rewatching Peaky Blinders. Just love it.

Just finished the 8 episode series. Very well done and informative. Richard Sackler is vile. I may watch Painkillers with Matthew Broderick

Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard, Kaitlyn Dever, Will Poulter, Rosario Dawson, and more all very good. Took me a while but finally recognized Sarsgaard and his voice as Bartholomew Bogue. Very different roles.

Same here.

It would be great if each show could be a folder within this thread "What are you binge watching?" Then you could easily find the show by the name of the folder and read all about it within the show's folder.

I finished up fallout. I liked it.

Anyone watch "My Lady Jane" on Amazon? I tried 1 episode. Will probably continue. Based very loosely on Lady Jane Grey, but it's an alternate history in an alternate world with magic. Very much modernized. Only a few recognizable faces--Anna Chancellor and Dominic Cooper (he's always such a weasel).

Just started John Carpenter's Suburban Screams on Peacock. Can't really binge as each episode is a new (true or allegedly true) story. First one was pretty good. It's done in docudrama style with re-enactments and interviews with the real people involved.

Evil. Watched this on CBS. It got cancelled, but then picked up off network on Paramount+. I always like Mike Colter and he's in a strange role here, David Acosta, a guy training to be a priest who works for the church related to supernatural phenomena. Katja Herbers is a very cute forensic psychologist named Kristen Bouchard with 4 daughters. Aasif Mandvi is really a nice comedic addition as Ben the technical guy and ultimate skeptic. Michael Emerson is downright creepy as Leland Townsend.

We were bummed when it was cancelled, but now that season 4 is approved we went back to binge it from season 1 and catch the seasons we missed on Paramount+.

TV Miniseries
Emma Corrin, Brit Marling, Harris Dickinson, Clive Owen
I finished the 7 episodes and I really enjoyed it. I thought the cast was very interesting and the story was intriguing. A little slow at times but worth the view.

Those About To Die (2024 - Peacock)
Not binge watching but coming out this month. Since I subscribed to Peacock for some sporting events I'm seeing this add. Anthony Hopkins is 86 years young. Looks interesting and I enjoyed Gladiator, although the brutal fights aren't my favorite.

Got Amazon prime for a month and have always wanted to watch "Man in the high Castle". Love the concept, kinda half in on the actual show. Anyone watch the full thing? Watched the first season so far but was kinda dragging at points

I watched it all. Some moments are really taught, tense and impressively done. Some points drag a bit. But I think that is necessary to convey some of the more ordinary aspects of life despite what seems like a clear worst case scenario for American audiences. The acting is really good, especially Rufus Sewell. I also couldn't help but be attracted to Julia. The ending was somewhat anticlimactic, but I'm still glad I watched it all.

Like a lot of time-shifting/alternate universes series, it can be a bit challenging to follow. But once you get used to that device and know the characters better, it gets pretty easy to follow. It's been a couple of years, but IIRC, I didn't "binge" the first couple of seasons, but did binge the last as the pace picked up.

Started "Geek Girl" on Netflix yesterday, now thru 7 of 10 episodes. She is as the name implies, picked on and bullied at school. Entirely by accident stumbles into the world of modeling and is starting a whirlwind ride as the next big thing. Enjoying it so far. It's definitely aimed at a younger audience, but hey if my parents watched it and liked it then I should be okay. It's interesting they didn't seem to pick up on it, but I'm fairly certain there are several hints she is neurodivergent, although it's not spelled out at this point.
