UConn Summer Ball 2021

Fedko playing SS... makes you wonder if there is any talk of switching him and Bushling. Bushling looked like he needed a cutoff man throwing to first at times this last season. Anyone have anything on Fedko playing SS next year??

Christian Fedko had 2 errors in this game at shortstop in the Sunday game against Mystic. He was at shortstop the game before as well. Christian has had his problems handling 2B over his career at UConn. I find it hard to imagine that he would be any better at shortstop, but we'll just have to see how much shortstop he plays at Bristol for rest of the summer season and how he does there.

The other interesting stat for Pat Gallagher is that he has given up only 2 walks in 14.1 innings on the Cape so far. Still, his ERA is 5.02, but I would think if he maintains that sort of control and that strikeout to walk ratio, the ERA will diminish.

Enzo Stefanoni makes the NECBL All Star team, and as you might expect, the grad transfer from Harvard to UConn is having a very nice summer season. 7 appearances, 23.2 innings, 1.90 ERA, 25 strikeouts, with 5 walks and 20 hits given up. He has not walked anyone in his last 12.1 innings.

While this post doesn’t pertain to a UConn player, I think it’s still newsworthy: Nick Dombkowski is transferring from the University of Hartford. He is a MLB draft worthy pitcher and because of their move to DIII in the coming years, Nick is taking his talents elsewhere. He currently plays with Pat Gallagher and Andrew Marrero on Yarmouth Dennis
Y/D posted a video of their pitchers introducing themselves and where they go to school and Nick said, “Nick Dombkowski, currently looking for a new home.”

Looks like UConn has another player, 1B/LHP Ben Huber, who is transferring to Storrs who is involved in summer ball:

Saw today on the Cape League transactions page that Andrew Marrero has been released by the Yarmouth Dennis Red Sox

Kenny Campbell is playing for the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders of the Northwoods League. This was his first appearance:

Looks like Dombkowski signed a FA Contract w/ the Pittsburg Pirates today instead.

Jimmy Wang was the starting pitcher for Norwich tonight. In 3 innings, 1 run, 3 hits, 3 strikeouts, and no walks, no hit batters, and no wild pitches. He gave up another single to the lead off hitter on the first pitch in the 4th inning, and right came out of the game after that. A nice outing for Wang.
