UConn Outbound Transfers for 8/1/23>7/31/24 Cycle

It would not be the first time a UConn football player finished out their college career at a different school because they did not get into the grad program they wanted to at UConn
Rehashing this - wasn't it that the grad school and Pennsylvania credits didn't match up. I heard he got in but it didn't match up credit wise.

Why would they go somewhere where their sport that they want is not offered? They would then have to pay tuition and fees, no? What happened with Joly? He chose Tennessee, but then they didn't choose him? Doesnt it kind of make it a lottery? What about those not chosen. What happens to them? Do they go back to the original school, or is the door exit only?
My message wasnt worded great. I was distracted by work. Haha. But the theme of it stands. Lottery is luck. Both entities are making a choice. If the choices don't align the kid doesnt go, but it still not a lottery.

Example being if I choose to win the Powerball, will they just send me the money?

You really believe that he would leave because of academics? If that is true, then he would not enter the portal lottery, but state to which school he was transferring. I also doubt that he would not get in to a graduate program at UConn either. Academics are meaningless in the transfer portal, just like in conference realignment.

I don’t believe anything in particular. Just saying we have no idea why Cam is in the transfer portal, unless you spoke with him. I didn’t, did you?

.-.
He may not know where he wants to be - but might have just felt that he ran his course at UCONN and staying here another year won't benefit him. Some people might know exactly where they are going - some people might not know where they are going, but know that they need a change. It happens. At least he has his degree in his pocket, so he is better off than many.

I don't know him. My only reason for commenting was in reaction to the "husky for life" quote in his post. If someone wants to move on, fine. Just go. Don't give me "husky for life" BS. I wish him well othewise.

He was at UConn 5 years, stuck with us through the COVID year, two season ending injuries, a coaching change and got his degree. Yeah, I'd say that qualifies him for husky for life

The other thing to consider with these kids is that four letter word KIDS! Again, I don’t know if he has great parental support and guidance whether he has a mentor or a life coach to teach him how to handle the situation with political finesse, but so many of the quotes from these youngsters are just the words that are floating around on the Internet that they craft together in a quote.

I’ll go with How Sway and say Husky for life even though his actions don’t scream that out.

I doubt this was an impulsive move by Cam. He has good parental support.
I don't know, I have a 55 year old friend who has great parental support and is as impulsive as they come-some people are just that way. That said, he has stuck around for 4+ years and has shown his staying power. Good luck to him in whatever future decisions he makes.

Cam Ross would be at or near the top of many of UConn's career receiving records if not for injuries. And would've put up big numbers for us next season. That's why him transferring socks.

LOL Cam Ward decides to transfer to Miami after initially saying he was going pro.

Cristobal is a wizard (and the NIL helps)!

If only he could win games.

For any of our guys who transferred and haven't announced a school yet, is that lack of offers or it sometimes take this long?

Doesn't he have a reputation as a QB runner?

It's interesting that Ross's Twitter profile still says WR @ University of Connecticut and has a photo of him as a Husky. I'd think he'd take the WR bit down if he entered the portal??

I have no information on the rest of the outgoing transfers.

Not sure about the rest, but no wonder Houston wanted to leave UConn............

DE Carter Hooper has signed with South Dakota. Sounds about right

CB Mumu Bin-Wahad has offers from FIU, Georgia State, FAMU, Liberty but has been contacted by a number of P4 programs - this one pisses me off. One year at WVU. One year here. Gypsy
CB Shearin has tweeted offers from FAU, JMU, Liberty - like his game. Solid. Not spectacular. A loss

RB Devontae Houston has tweeted offers from UMass and La Tech - thought he was drinking the Nate Carter kool aid. Instead drank Jim Jones’

WR James Burns has offers from Gardner-Webb - good for him.

I have no information on the rest of the outgoing transfers.

You mean ‘ruiner’. Yeah, but he’s under big time pressure to make the offense more attractive to blue chip QB recruits and Dawson is a good, QB friendly OC. Either Mario evolves or he’s probably gone within two years, buyout be damned.

The program boosters and NIL benefactors were not happy this season, and I think he got the message loud and clear. Time will tell. As long as he gets to stock the cupboard with linemen and running backs he’s happy, just has to get out of his own way. And he IS doing a tremendous job building the trenches.

Sorry, yes, typo: *ruiner... time will tell down at Miami...
