Agree agreeSuchy seemed poised to join Pudvar as a dependable starter but then was injured. That really hurt. Tommy was too inconsistent.

That was the best hitting team we’ve had in years. Both those players were good enough to start every game this year (but we had 10 who were for 9 slots) and with improvement would presumably not be worse next year. Taking apart the lineup because the pitching was horrific doesn’t make a lot of sense.Penders can’t be happy with much. Maybe wants start over.
Ellisen and dougherty the only surprises in my opinion.Abbadessa, Wolff, Conte,Galusha,Groen,Norrell, Dougherty,Worzel, Taylor, Hector and Ellisen are all in the portal now
one of the best offenses ever IMO. If their starting pitching wasn't so brutal to start the year this team could have made a run. Pudvar,West and Suchy next year is a nice starting rotation....HopefullyThat was the best hitting team we’ve had in years. Kids who redshirted going in the portal is interesting to me. I thought Groen got hurt early on but with the starting outfield gone or in the portal, there should be opportunity.Abbadessa, Wolff, Conte,Galusha,Groen,Norrell, Dougherty,Worzel, Taylor, Hector and Ellisen are all in the portal now

Depends on how you search… if you go to the alphabetical running list by school there are there - if you search by “previous school” - Connecticut > only four.Funny thing, I was looking at this website this morning, and only 4 UConn players were listed at that time. Now all these players are listed on that website.
If there are a lot of pitchers being pushed out, I wouldn't be surprised. But as college athletics continue to evolve, we shouldn't assume that folks that enter the portal are all set on leaving. Some are seeing if there is a better situation elsewhere, some are seeking leverage for their deal with UConn. Time will tell.
Yeah, they have that same problem in the SEC. A guy who has a big year, high tails it because another decent hitter is coming back. Yeah, SEC players are leery about their team having too strong a line up. Makes no sense. Neither does going back to the California clown show. Just stay put, young man.I don't understand the MacArthur move either. Perhaps he wants to go back to California or he is concerned about less playing time once Maddix Dalena returns from wrist injury.
Me too. $$ is ruining college sports. No college athlete in any sport should be paid, other than a scholarship for a shot at a free education. Everything else should belong to the university.College sports have changed so much that I didn't even entertain the possibility that a UConn baseball player would transfer due to NIL. The everchanging world of sports.
I had posted this in the Summer Ball thread but maybe foreshadowing now:I don't understand the MacArthur move either. Perhaps he wants to go back to California or he is concerned about less playing time once Maddix Dalena returns from wrist injury.
You are thinking about AJ Soldra (Amity/Cheshire Academy) and Milewski (ND-WH). Soldra is a scrappy kid who just seems to always get on base. He went to NJIT continued to grow and then transferred in to the Pirates this year. We still have time to try to repatriate him.
Evan Menzel INF from Coventry played at Maine this past season entered the portal. Wonder if the staff goes after him.
