Men UConn Baseball and the transfer portal

I don't understand the MacArthur move either. Perhaps he wants to go back to California or he is concerned about less playing time once Maddix Dalena returns from wrist injury.
Yeah, they have that same problem in the SEC. A guy who has a big year, high tails it because another decent hitter is coming back. Yeah, SEC players are leery about their team having too strong a line up. Makes no sense. Neither does going back to the California clown show. Just stay put, young man.

College sports have changed so much that I didn't even entertain the possibility that a UConn baseball player would transfer due to NIL. The everchanging world of sports.
Me too. $$ is ruining college sports. No college athlete in any sport should be paid, other than a scholarship for a shot at a free education. Everything else should belong to the university.

I had posted this in the Summer Ball thread but maybe foreshadowing now:

I suppose it is possible that some players may want to end up at a school that is closer to their home areas. For instance, Dougherty and MacArthur are from west coast states. We have to see where they end up to see if this might be true.

Imagine that… we did have time!

You are thinking about AJ Soldra (Amity/Cheshire Academy) and Milewski (ND-WH). Soldra is a scrappy kid who just seems to always get on base. He went to NJIT continued to grow and then transferred in to the Pirates this year. We still have time to try to repatriate him.

Yay! Offense could be really awesome again, especially with the highly rated frosh. Gotta get or develop some pitching.

Interesting that a power conference program would poach our #8 hitter. Definitely a good player but our lineup looks so loaded next year that playing time was not guaranteed. Losing quality depth hurts for sure.

Huh? Look at his numbers. Schpur and Biller and Root are all gone from the OF, and possibly MacArthur as well. If he came back he was starting. (And he spent plenty of time batting 5th IIRC -- once we got past Daniels and Minnick the differential between who batted 5 and who 9 was insignificant for the most part.)
