Things have changed since UConn last got a no from the ACC. BC needs UConn in the Northeast as a rivalry now whereas last time they didn't need us. Their Football team back then was decent and the basketball team was pretty good with Dana Barros, John Bagley, Bill Curley, Murphy, Michael Adams, etc. Now both programs are the laughing stock of P5 conferences. They have agreed to play us in Football this fall, which helps them as much as it helps us. If UConn gets in, BC takes a bus to an away game for all sports, for the first time in years. That renewed rivalry will help both schools in recruiting in New England as well.
it's a win-win for both schools, and (as you said) it adds some desperately needed juice for big time college sports in New England. Once this happens, both schools should also rope in Providence for a regular basketball thing too.
