UConn 2025 Outbound Transfers (Dec. 9th > 28th 2024 & April 16th > 25th 2025 Cycle) *No Speculation*

“If I wanted to pay I would” if that’s your take don’t complain when we lose players to the portal. Grassroots NIL matters.
How do you know if some one already paid, perhaps substanially into NIL?

Boise state's NIL is around 2.9 million, UConns is what, 1.2-1.5 million? If the fans are not helping grow the NIL, they should not be bitching and moaning. Storrs Central $120 for the year. You get 100 new scribers this week, maybe the added $12,000 helps bring someone in or keeps someone else on the fence. I agree that there needs to be some changes in how this all works as 4 schools in 4 years is just a crazy thing, but the money matters, so if you can spend an extra $120 for the effort, then do it!
You’re spot on! You have the facts right. We’re moving in the right direction but need everyone to help out.

if this roster turnover happens every year and we're forced to re-set everything over and over, then I wonder if in the future, we will continue to have strange maryland-like games in the early season, where we're clearly not a team yet and just get destroyed by a P4 team.

maybe subconsciously this new phenomenon is what Jim Mora meant by "husky reload" lol

Everyone is entitled to their opinion just as you are entitled to yours. You do what you wish, I haven’t forgotten what it’s like to watch a 1-10 football team knowing how miserable it is to drive 2-3 hrs to and from the rent sitting in endless traffic. Winning makes it so much better. I can deal with the madness and drama of the portal.

Im sure you are a die hard fan that has been thru the darkest of times with this program. Just remember the dark times, where we are now and reaching the next level. Just ask yourself whats worth more 3 dollar coffee a day, or 10 dollars a month on NIL.
It's like a GoFundMe for a football roster.

End times.

UConn last I heard was in the $2 million dollar range

Yes the referenced figures were from last year’s cycle. This year’s target was $2.5 million and although I don’t know, I would expect we’ve met or exceeded that.

It sucks but as an Indy you gotta take the P4 games when you can get them. Plus, all those P4 teams are dealing with roster turnover too.

With some quotes (paywall ?) from Benedict:
"The goal is for $2-3 million to be shared with, say, 40 players of high expectations next offseason, giving UConn the size, depth and talent needed in an effort to show that the program can be more than something basketball and university support drags along" ...“I’m not sure how many people did more than we did, in the Group of Five,” Benedict said ..... But if we’re not in the top five, I’d be surprised. "

Not me. He had way too many drops. And on most higher level FBS schools that puts you on the bench.

He is replaceable
True, but he did get separation. Separation has been a rare commodity in the UConn receiving corps. I think the receiving corps this last season had been frustrated with UConn's QB situation. The last few games it seemed to come out via body language and gestures.

Ugh, the bowl system is in trouble if this is the transfer portal system for the foreseeable future. If the best players enter the portal and sit out bowl games, it will only hurt ticket sales and TV interest.
The portal isn't the only reason for lost players in bowls. Before the portal, key players sat out to avoid injury in prep for the NFL. The whole system is broken and it's a shame because I used to love bowl season.

I agree about the strengths and improvement opportunities concerning Skyler Bell. Although he had too many drops, I am assuming that good coaching could have decreased that drop rate. Of course we'll never know at UConn. That assumption may be incorrect, but we expect guys like Ball, Ross and Stewart to improve year over year in MBB. Why don't we have the same approach for the football coaching staff?

I'm with you 100%. IMO, this year is even worse since some players are opting out of playoff games. I grew up at a time when New Year's bowl games were something special. The minor bowls were interesting as well because most players played. Unfortunately, those days are long gone.

Spot on mate! Growing up, I couldn't get enough of the bowls (and the Rose Bowl parade), watching game after game, stuffing my face with homemade Christmas treats and loving every minute of football. Now it's opting out of playoff games, opting out of bowl games, opting out after the first few games of the regular season...just opt out of the friggin' sport then if you don't want to play.

Bell had too high a drop rate for a #1 receiver, no question. However, he also caught contested balls, ran patterns, had YAC and blocked better than almost any WR we’ve had here. Overall, he had a really good year. And would have most likely had had a better one had there not been half the games where we never threw to him.

Why does the portal open before the playoffs or even the first bowl game? CFB can never do anything right
Probably to give the B1G and SEC more time to scout the minor leagues for the players they need to crush all the opposition, make other leagues appear insignificant and unworthy of major media money and viewership, and free themselves to split from the NCAA and keep all the major sources of revenue.
Revenue sharing = oligopoly.

Just get rid of the bowl system and expand the playoffs to 24 like FCS.
I want an FCS style playoff for the big boys, but I am conflicted because it would do us absolutely no good. If we don't have a bowl game, and we can't win a conference, what exactly are we playing for?

Say what you will about the Wasabi Fenway Bowl, but I've got tickets and it's generated a reasonable amount of excitement locally.

There was an incident in the NFL this past week where a player opted out of a game. mid-game!!!
