U17 and U18 recruiting target observations

  1. NaLyssa Smith (TX-2018) considering these 9: Baylor, UConn, Kansas, Louisville, Ohio State, South Carolina, Texas, Texas Tech, West Virginia

    David Hinojosa @hinojosa_david
Baylor coach Kim Mulkey is in the stands, presumably to watch East Central's NaLyssa Smith.

She is a Diamond DeSheilds type of athlete and player. One moment she looks great, the next moment she looks terrible. Her coach benched her in the first St. Johns game. I do not see UConn going hard after her.

I agree with your analysis.........I've seen her a few times and have never been all that impressed but that was at Blair after she came back from a knee problem.......she must have done something right to keep that high ranking but there are other choices in that class that UConn might prefer

Christyn Williams scored 37 points on Thursday (2/17) to help Arkansas Christian advance to the 4A final.

2/22

Christyn Williams scored 26 points Wednesday. Central Arkansas Christian advanced in 4A play.

Trying to become a 3-time AR POY and the national POY. She really should play college ball with Meg. :D

Those are incredibly impressive shooting stats if accurate. Almost hard to believe considering the attention she receives.

58.4% overall

37.6% 3-pt

73% FT
Not that incredible - they are the percentages of a decent three point shooter with the ability to slash to the glass against HS defenses. Moriah and Saniya I suspect put up those percentages in HS and Moriah exceeded them as a junior in college .587/.496/.843.

"Considering the attention..." I though was the most important part of Slu post. Moriah was more like Batman with Morgan being Robin & Stewie being Superwoman. I'm not even sure there is another D1 prospect playing in William's HS conference, so double teams and even triple were likely.

But against non-D1 talent as you say - she like most D1 players was a giant in the land of Lilliput!
