You know, the interest and success Uconn is having in the TX region may be the result of membership in the AAC with its crazy geographic spread - with Tulsa, Houston, SMU and Tulane, plus Memphis there is a lot more exposure for the program in the region - add in H and H with Texas and Baylor and uconn is playing three games a year that are likely a long or short road trip away from that hot bed of talent. They have lost some of the mid-west exposure but still have Cinci, Temple replaces Villanova, and they have more exposure in FL and Carolina. Not everything about the AAC is terrible
Excellent point. While we all lament the fact that UConn is not in a Power 5 conference, the geographic reach of the AAC gives a lot of recruits in TX, FL, TN, NC etc. the opportunity to see the Huskies play, get tickets behind the bench, stop by the locker room after the game and meet some of the players.

Being in ACC, would still be ideal. ACC comprises a nice group of states to recruit from. Also, the fact is UConn can recruit based on its name, success and geno. They have pulled top players from Cali. They got Williams from Nevada, etc..Examples of pulling kids in areas UConn never plays is common.

Besides Uconn being UConn as stated above. I would put more weight on Moriah connection, which helped TX inroads. Lexi Gordon and Charli Collier are friends by all reports. Collier and Christyn Williams played on the same AAU team and are supposedly buds. Collier signing could help land Williams

So her Hoopgurlz profile says she is 5-8. Prospects Nation says she is 6-0. A Hoopgurlz article from March says she is 5-10.

I'll go with the 5-10 since that's what USAB listed her at.
Is she related to Bria Hartley? ;)

While we've been paying attention to games that are played on the court, recruiting continues on, with big Amira Collins giving her nod to Tennessee. She's currently playing on the Paul VI uber high school team with other top-flight recruiting commits, including PG Honesty Scott-Grayson (say that five times fast) and ND commit Mikayla Vaughn, among others.

That's Holly's first commit for 2018, joining her pretty bountiful 2017 class.

Junior Amira Collins of Virginia's Paul VI give verbal commitment to Tennessee Lady Vols

Odd to me that ProspectsNation still has not updated their site with Abby Prohaska's commitment. Now they had early 2018 class rankings come out today and they only listed Gilbert for ND.

C'mon her announcement tweet was retweeted by the NDWBB account, what more confirmation do you need? So much for them being #CommitmentCentral

Do you really think a red-haired, soon-to-be Irish warrior is going to change her mind and mission? :D;)

Well, all the mystery surrounding UConn's interest in Olivia Nelson-Ododa can stop now. Geno was in the stands as she scored 27 points Thursday.

Junior center Olivia Nelson-Ododa caused the main damage, scoring 27 points (including 11 in the second quarter) and wreaking defensive havoc on the other end of the floor.

....

Nelson-Ododa’s performance, in particular, came at a good time as legendary UConn women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma was in the stands scouting.
“It was a big thrill for Olivia and she had a great night for us offensively and defensively,” Thomas said.

Nelson-Ododa also scored 29 points on Wednesday. Quite a week for her.

Has an interesting three team scrimmage today facing two of the top post players in the NY/NJ area.......Patterson Eastside and their 6'9" post Andrea Aquino (ESPN #11 post) along with 6'3'" post Mariah Perez from Newark Tech.............frankly Aquino is still a work in progress, she runs the floor very well and blocks shots with regularity but show a lack of aggression at both ends of the court....pretty good shooting form but with limited success.....good from the foul line........Perez is clearly better offensively but doesn't have nearly the defensive presence that Aquino has...........they'll both play DI ball but neither are UConn material............

She doesn't have UConn listed as programs she's considering last time I checked. She has all schools in the south..GA, Gtech, TN, SC...except 1 and it wasn't UConn. Seems she wants to stay close to home.

Wouldn't pay much attention to ESPN's school lists.

I have a feeling ONO will join UConn.

She also really 'blew up' in terms of national perception this past summer, so an initial list of interest was more likely to be more local - places she could easily visit, where teammates/friends had gone, and schools cared on regional sports networks. Doubt Geno would have been there unless they had some contact and positive response.

I'm aware that ONO blew up to #1. Where was she ranked before--about #40??
