Interesting stuff.....I've now seen Sidor play so many times that I have a pretty good handle on her....she's clearly a hyper aggressive offensive talent that can play at a high level but not quite UConn material..Dillon77 is more of the Aquino watcher....I haven't seen her lately but have never been a big fan...when I saw my daughter's team's 5'11' center outplay her it kind of put me off .....who knows, they always say that centers develop late so perhaps she will be more then your average 6'9" kid in the end (that's if if she doesn't get deported)
Hey Coco...thanks for passing along.
Yeah, I got to see Aquino's last high school game of the year at Paterson Eastside (maybe her last ever there?).
As I put in a previous post, I think she'd improved a lot over the years, particularly this season. Two areas come to mind for me:
- better use of her body. I think this falls under the tag, "it takes longer for bigger people," but she's become more athletic in virtually all aspects, from simple things like cutting pivoting to using both hands.
- the jump shot. Agree with Prosepcts Nation here wholeheartedly: she can shoot the jumper on a reliable basis and her FT shooting is very dependable. Two years ago that was not the case.
Oregon State is taking a shot -- I would presume -- in this development continuing. To me, it's worth the gamble.
As for Sidor, I'm with Charlie: The Sidor Travelling Extravaganza comes at defenses in all varieties, from drives and dishes, to pull-ups and long bombs. And she's at rev speed more often than not. For some reason, a Doug Bruno-kind of offense comes to mind. Or perhaps a Katie Meier in Miami. Maybe even the 'Cuse?
