It's hard not to read the tea leaves and interpret that Waters sees UConn as a "safety school" and nothing more. I don't get the impression he'd have a lot of pride in coming here. The fact that he has no interest in visiting (despite claiming that he's been here before) suggests as much. Even if he's been here before, if he were really keen on UConn, he'd make a visit.

But that's just my complete-outsider perspective on the situation based on what I've read.

There is literally nothing that indicates he is coming to Storrs. If he wanted to go to UConn, he would have committed right after MAL decommited. I will say it again, loud and clear.........Tremont Waters is not coming to UConn.

No he is not. All he has to do is wait for the NBA deadline. Then he will have multiple options. Just because nothing seems clear right now doesn't mean at all that he will have nowhere to go.

Just about to say the same thing.
The question is, is it worth it. Because if he comes here, hets adequate time and we win he probably stays put. But the first time he's benched or disciplined does he bounce?

This seems to be correct.

Syracuse if he begs them ;)
Western Kentucky
Still might opt to choose Indiana with a new staff than UConn if we are really that far back in his mind.

Again, let the dust settle. I agree that right now it's unclear but some school other than UConn will appear. I am not sure anyone is out. There a few pieces still to fall. Once that happens, schools you list as no will suddenly, desperately say yes. Besides, it's not like the kid can't play. A spot will open up for him. He doesn't want UConn, that much is clear. It's ludicrous to believe he will end up here by default.

He's a top 40 player. If he calls Virginia or Stanford or Northwestern and says "do you guys have room for me?" they'll say "yes." And of course Georgetown will take him back in a flash.

That doesn't fit the current narrative – that he wants the brightest spotlight possible – but I'm not sure how much I trust the current narrative, and I'm not sure how much speculation about the father's intentions is appropriate or accurate.

But allen is already back at duke and are seen as the leader for duval they are out. Kansas even if they domt get duval is out, acc to zags they arent even interested. UK has been out. There isnt that much dust left to settle with tgis group of teams. Now I agree a team can come out of nowhere. But its really late in the peocess, if those schools havent reached out yet then they probably dont need him. The elite schools arent coming.

This is true. But again those schools have had a wk to contact him and havent. Maybe just maybe they've moved on

This kid's recruitment is a mess. He can't even get his story straight, no surprise that recruitment insiders can't either. I'm just going to assume it's a no and hope to be pleasantly surprised.
Key word here : kid....

Amazing how these youngsters, because of their athletic prowess all of a sudden are grown men and can make solid decisions that everybody understands...

I wish this kid the best wherever he ends up.. A great learning experience for the young man...

I don't get it, was he tightest with Miller? I just don't understand how you're not at all interested unless its because hey theres a few great guards there already

My point is this: Just because they're not actively recruiting him doesn't mean they're not options. It's not like this kid is going to come down to "Well, it's UConn or JuCo for me, so I guess it's UConn."

If it gets to the end of the month and he hasn't made a choice, and announces "hey I'm throwing my name out there for anyone who wants to recruit me," he'll have high-level offers. Not blue bloods, clearly, but good schools that have good academics, get some shine and can put the ball in his hands. I'm sure that last bit will be weighed against our unquestionably good track record of putting PGs into the league (which is, I'm certain, our strongest sell for him).

I don't get it, was he tightest with Miller? I just don't understand how you're not at all interested unless its because hey theres a few great guards there already
That's a good reason to not be interested though, isn't it? The kid thinks he can be Tyler Ulis, so why wouldn't he want to go somewhere who'll give him the chance to show that from Day 1?

To be clear: I hope he picks us, and I hope he lasts here for 3 years before becoming a first-round pick. I think that our track record with PGs is undeniable.

But there are good and real reasons why he'd possibly go elsewhere, and he's right to take his time. We're talking about a decision with his life's work, and millions of dollars, riding on it.

18 hours ago - Board is convinced Waters is coming.

Now - Board is convinced he's not.

Nothing has really changed.

There's no cause for optimism or pessimism here. We knows nuthin' - this one is just a waiting game.

My assumption is that he just has a personal aversion to the idea of staying in state with the school that he is already known for so long... just nothing new or exciting about it. He's 18 and wants to get out and explore the unknown, what some other big time basketball school have to offer.

Wait you mean to tell me that grown adult men speculating on a message board about what other grown adult men on another message board are hearing isn't relevant to an 18 year old making a decision, when none of the former parties are in on the discussion?

If he doesn't want UConn, then why does he continue listing UConn? He can simply take them off his list if there's zero chance of him wanting to go here.
Logically, he has UConn on his list because Tremont's decided that UConn is a possibility. HE put UConn on HIS list. Not the boneyard.
I suggest you take it up directly Tremont and tell him that what he's doing is ludicrous.
