Lots to like: Solid PG size at 6'2 185, 13.4p, 3.8r, 6.8a, 1.7s, 51.6 2p%. Bronx kid.

Only trepidation is his 18.8 3p% in 2.2 attempts/game. Last thing I want on this team is an Aaron Thompson.
That 3p% goes against everything Hurley just said about playing a 4 out offense...He does realize that to play a 4 out offense you need guys that can shoot the 3, right?

I got roasted for saying he’s my top option earlier in this thread but I stand by the take that he’s a star.
I think Davis would be a good addition, but I don’t think he should be the only guard we add. He would provide a lot of stability on Offense which I was worried about with so many unknowns from the PG position.

Offensive rating sub 100, his team went 3-28, and he shoots below 20% from 3. What a star

If this is the best we can do, I give it one more year before we’re making threads about up and coming coaches in the northeast.

Another interesting option if his knee is 100%: Adam Miller

He was often a spot player as a freshman at Illinois, averaging 25 minutes, but did go off a couple times. Was highly recruited. I wouldn't take 8.3 ppg as his ceiling or even an average going forward.

5.5 assists on a bad team tells me he can pass. If he’s our backup pg, it’s an upgrade on what we had last year.

I googled "Stephon Castle Reclass" and the first hit was a thread from this board. Didn't see any links talking about it being a possibility. That doesn't mean he can't, but it's not being talked about at all in a public setting.
Isn't this a public message board? We're talking about it.

So hard to judge shooting percentages sometimes. Bad teams that run bad offenses tend to take bad shots which leads to poor shooting percentage. Doesn't mean the guy can't shoot, it speaks to the fact his team sucked. Bouknight shot less than 30% from 3 his soph year not because he's a bad shooter but because he was often stuck jacking up a 3 at the end of a shot clock when no one else around him could create offense. I expect a guy like this to get much better and more open shots on a roster with Hawkins, Jackson and Sanogo.

Davis did shoot 36% from 3 on high volume in JUCO (19-20): NJCAA

Stroke looks pretty fluid here:

Edit: Here's his JUCO stats from 20-21 Dashawn Davis

42% from 3 on 4.4 attempts per game.

He also only took 48 attempts from 3 this year which isn't a lot (less than Andre actually). If we're just going to look blindly at numbers and write a guy off because of 3pt % then are we also ready to say that Dre will be an above average 3pt shooter next year since he shot 36.1% last year on more attempts than Davis?

No, you're looking at it the wrong way. We're going to look at Andre Jackson and say he's not a shooter because he didn't take many 3's the same way we are with Davis

Speaking of Murray State, literally ONE of their scholarship players from the 21-22 team remains on the roster.

However, if they remain committed, they have an acclaimed freshman class, considering their previous and new conference.

Or Taliek Brown. Or Ricky Moore.

You can get away with that if players around him can shoot.
Okay, but you can’t have 2 of them on the floor at the same time. Which means it’s either this guy or Andre Jackson. And Jackson is going to play 30 MPG. You think that dude is going come here to play the other 10?

That's a Jackson problem, and nothing else. He is not a pure PG, therefore he must be able to shoot. His offseason literally should be taking 1,000 jump shots per day.
