Another PG worth checking in on. Spent 2 seasons at Auburn before the 1 at Michigan.
You said it’s weird to not root for St Johns, then told people not to whine about money if they lose…I'm not policing anything, I have no power here. We both rooted for St. John's for different reasons and you got in your feelings and resorted to insults. This is what you always do when we discuss hoops.
Andrew Rohde (6'6" 202) from Virginia, mid-major conference, but played good vs. the better teams in the league

I don't care who you root for and for whatever reason but save the guilt trip. Your implying that our fandom for UConn is less than yours because we don't root for St Johns for a few scraps that don't move the needle in the grand scheme of things. I assure you PC and St John's fans are not rooting for UConn. Someone could imply you are not a good UConn fan because you are rooting for UConn's rivals and their success can lead to the getting recruits like Silas Demary over us. This is supposed to be fun. Cheeseburgers are bad for you but people still eat them. You know why? They are awesome! So is college basketball and that includes rooting for your rivals or teams you don't care for to lose. In the age of legal sports betting, telling people who to root for is crazy. This is how it goes for most:Yep, I just rooted for them for different reasons than you did. I rooted for them because it's good for UConn and the league. You rooted for them because of your friends and bracket, not because it's beneficial to UConn and league.
I'll always root for things that are beneficial to UConn and the Big East.
In the same vein, Samage Teel from Indiana St. (6'2" 185). Ast/TO not ideal but not horrible (5.2:3.2). Fairly good metrics on Hoop Explorer:

Yes, we look at it differently. I always want what benefits UConn, Big East teams winning in the tournament benefits UConn. Everyone can root for whoever they want to root for and people can think it's weird, awesome, lame etc. We keep saying the same things. You said it’s weird to not root for St Johns, then told people not to whine about money if they lose…
I don’t think it’s weird to root for them. I think its quite weird for you to criticize those who won’t root for a rival, though.
I don't care who you root for. I also think it's weird you think I'm laying a guilt trip on you based on who you root for. Again, root for any team you want. Who cares if I think it's weird? As you said this is supposed to be fun, it's always a blast for me.I don't care who you root for and for whatever reason but save the guilt trip. 1. Root for your favorite team(UConn)
2. Root for who you bet on
3. Root against who you dislike.
If UConn's future success was tied to how St Johns did in the tourney then I would root like hell for them. It's not so I don't.
I did root for Marquette and Xavier so I am not opposed to rooting for Big East teams. Just certain Big East teams.
What benefits UConn is St. Johns collapsing entirely and going back to being a dumpster fire. We won two straight titles before they got Pitino and started buying teams (including by weakening other Big East teams like they just did to PC).Yes, we look at it differently. Also doesn’t really benefit UConn in the recruiting process if St Johns is seen as a force in the area. What benefits UConn is St. Johns collapsing entirely and going back to being a dumpster fire. The credits are fine, but I want teams other than St. Johns to earn them.
Yep, we disagree on this. In addition to the tournament units I believe a strong UConn, Johnnies, Nova, Georgetown benefits UConn, the Big East, and college basketball. I even want a strong Syracuse even though they are no longer in the Big East and they are/were our rivals. What benefits UConn is St. Johns collapsing entirely and going back to being a dumpster fire. Diamond in the rough browsing for mid-majors...
Colby Garland (6'1", 195) Longwood Sophomore. Nice metrics shooting (though 3pt not "great"), Finishes at rim real well, 4.4:1.9 Ast:TO.
Edit: Threw some great lobs and interior passes as I watched the whole highlight video

I can agree on the Big East but a strong Cuse? More than happy where they are.Yep, we disagree on this. I'm sure some people will think that's a weird take. I promise I won't get bent out of shape about it.
Oh I get it. But there's room for hate. I hated Pitino's Louisville teams and I hate these St. Johns teams. I despise watching that foul everyone every second of the game defense. Ugly basketball. I hope all the other Big East teams do well when not playing UConn. It was especially nice to see DePaul improve to "not embarrassing". Storied program. Excited to see Willard at Nova. Sadly, a solid PC program is just so outgunned in the NIL era.Yep, we disagree on this. I'm literally the first person in this thread who said l don't care who anyone roots for and people should root for who they want. You then responded "that's fine, just don't WHINE about UConn's money situation in the Big East."I don't care who you root for. Also, I don't gamble on games. I wish it was never legalized. You can think my opinion is weird.
You have any more inside scoops on players we're getting or have your insider contacts (boneyarders DM's) dried up? Wink, wink.Fantastic posts to kill the time between superjohn's tantrum. Keep 'em coming.
Providence's NIL is actually legit. They're getting players but not sold on Kim. Sweet 16 seems like it will always be the ceiling with that program going forward.Oh I get it. Does anyone know what the scholarship grid looks like right now for next year and how many portal guys we can fit where we stand at the moment?

I won't argue with your take on their ceiling, but in your lifetime how often have they reached that ceiling?Providence's NIL is actually legit. They're getting players but not sold on Kim. Sweet 16 seems like it will always be the ceiling with that program going forward.
God Shammgod or Austin Croshere aren't walking through that door anytime soon.I won't argue with your take on their ceiling, but in your lifetime how often have they reached that ceiling?
