OT: The Old, the Obscure, and The Forgotten - Round 2

Danny Kirwin's "Sands of Time" - heard it on on Sirius Sat radio's "Deep Tracks" this morning. The album it's from, "Future Games", is 50 years old next year, so it's old. I'd say pretty obscure too, but is one fine piece of music:

It might be old, maybe a little forgotten, but not obscure. Like this version done by Sara Bareilles.

This a quote from Sir Elton himself: "I was so blown away by the version of Yellow Brick Road. I've never heard anyone sing one of my songs like that ever. I can't thank you enough, giving your time and blowing my mind with that version. Because when someone sings your songs they usually copy you and she made it her own. That's brilliant--it's a hard song."

Here's something reasonably new and obscure. These guys are a Singaporean post-rock band. This is the first thing of theirs I heard, and I was captivated. I own everything they've recorded now.

This is not obscure or forgotten but I thought it was appropriate to post today which is the 50th anniversary of the tragic shootings at Kent State.

So terribly sad. A very dark day in my life. I was in school in Meadville, Pa. We were 100 miles away from Kent, but our campus felt the anguish profoundly.

This caught my ear today. I was 12 when it came out in 1963 , and I was in love with a girl that summer! Too bad she did not know me. We would have been magic together. ;) The Tymes were from Philly and this was their first hit, #1 here and in the UK.
