The Official Thread of The New York Yankees - 2022

Wasn't he slow out of the box?
Yes he was, he was admiring his not quite HR. The thing is if he was watching the left fielder (as he should have) rounding first, he never would have attempted second. The first miscue was arrogance/laziness. The second was not paying attention to what happened in front of him.

And I'm sick of him booting a ball at third and then tapping his chest (implying 'my error'). No s#!t it's your error and there are far too many of them. He's making it nearly impossible for Michael Kaye to claim how superior a defensive third baseman he is to justify the acquisition.

Finally, for the first time in my life (when he took exception to a high inside fastball against Tampa) I wanted to see a Yankee charge the mound and get his ass kicked.

All you need to know. Killer lineup.

Why would you ever pitch to .301?
Teams started pitching around Judge a while ago. There is no one in the line up to protect him. And another issue I have with Boone, and have had since he took over, is why bat your best power hitter and rbi man 1st or 2nd. This makes no sense and goes against all conventional baseball wisdom. I have to believe this comes down from Cashman and his analytics bible.

Judge is up to 54 now. I really hope he makes at least 62.

This is the one analytical stat to roster construction I’m 100% on board with actually. It’s basic math, the higher up in the order, the more at bats you get per game / over the course of the season. You want your best hitter getting as many bats as possible.

I don’t think Judge needs to bat first (Benintendi or DJ should lead off) but I have no problem with him hitting second.

And we need to bat Stanton behind him (although he’s now injured) and not Donaldson or Gleyber like they have most of the year…

If we have a healthy team come October (big if), the lineup should be (but probably won’t be)

Benintendi
Judge
Stanton
Rizzo
DJ
Cabrera
Gleyber
Trivino
Locastro (because I guess it’s better than Hicks or Gonzales, although I’d really prefer Florial but doubt he makes the roster).

Assuming Bader is healthy, he'd probably be starting over Locastro or Hicks.

Im fine with Judge batting 2nd now since Benintendi is done for the year it looks like.

Spring training lineup. The front office is a joke and the team stinks but watching Judge is worth it. Never seen a one man team like this before. #55.

Bases loaded, no out and can't score. Pathetic
They bring Guzman up and bat him cleanup where he gets the golden Sombrero and hits into a double play with bases loades and no outs in extras.

The people running this team are an absolute joke.

Clinched a winning record that will get Cashman an extension.

Twins always there to help keep Cashmans job.

Sox didn’t help against the Rays but I’m sure they’ll hammer on the Yanks when they meet lol.

I mean Stanton hurt again, Benetendi out more than likely for good, Rizzo headaches from the epidural. Why even make the playoffs this team is dreadful. I say this after winning a couple games too. So painful to watch that offense.

Where are people hearing Benintendi out for good? I heard / read he could be back before the season is over, and almost certainly for the playoffs.

You know the injuries will be used as an excuse to give Cashman an extension no matter how the season ends.

Absolutly pathetic it took this long to move IKF to 3b his natural GG position, Gleyber is completely useless btw, Volpe is tearing it up in AAA hes ready call him up.

Would love to see Volpe this year, but unless there are numerous injuries beyond the guys currently out, long shot he gets a call-up and any significant run.

They have to move Gleyber in the offseason and let the combo of Cabrera, Peraza and Volpe be the future of the (middle) infield.

Just cut Hicks. Physically stinking it up is one thing but dropping a fly ball then pouting about it as guys are circling the bases is a new low even for him.

Never going to happen. Cutting Hicks means Cashman admitting he was wrong. Guy thinks he’s a genius. Never will do it. Even though eating $10.5M the next 3 years and replacing him with ANYONE (Bader, Andujar, Cabrera, Tyler freaking Wade…) instantly improves the team

Yeah wishful thinking.

On another note, what’s it going to take to re-sign Judge after this season?

The real question is, does he even want to sign if the Yankees have the best offer?

Judge must be looking around right now and asking himself, do I want to play for this incomptent organization for the rest of my career or do I go back home to the west coast and join the Dodgers or Giants?

On that note, Michael Kay has become insufferable to listen to recently. He is basically a mouth piece for Cashman pushing a false narrative.

During last nights game he…

A) claimed the rays have caught the Yankees because of all the bad luck injuries we have had.

B) “the kids” have been called up like the fans wanted but haven’t provided a spark.

The problem isn’t injuries or Cabrera and Peraza. It’s a manager and front office who keep trotting out Hicks, Gonzales, Guzman, Lacastro, Donaldson, Gallo, etc. even though none can hit a baseball.

How dumb do they think the fans are? It’s would be offensive if it wasn’t so funny lmao

Eight years $300 million.

My gut tells me that the Yanks already have a firm ceiling on what they will be willing to pay and if some team exceeds that, Judge walks.

I hate the idea beyond description but I can see Hal/Cashman pulling this crap and then trying to spin it as fiscal responsibility.

I think you're way low on the guess. That seems reasonable for what he would have gotten on the open market before this historic season. He'll clear $350M easy and I think there's a better than good chance it's above $400M
