I guess it can't hurt, but he's been a barely above average hitter since July 1 so I don't think it's a great option. He's just not good enough though to be a main piece of the lineupMcNeil leadoff. Won a batting title there, no? Then Lindor, Soto, Petey. Then the scrubs
No, Soto has been worth every penny and moreWait are you telling me that Juan Soto hasn't lived up to his billion dollar contract who couldn't see that coming.
His stats are great. For me it’s not the “what” it’s the “how”.Wait are you telling me that Juan Soto hasn't lived up to his billion dollar contract who couldn't see that coming.
Again, another absolutely brutal loss. I had some stuff to do around the house and got up when it was 6-0 and came back, my phone had 7 texts and it was 9-6.
Tonight, I'm lucky enough to have tickets to the Cadillac Club in RF. I have been looking forward to this all year and I'm trying to not let the last month/week/day creep into that excitement. I'll take some pics and if you're watching tonight, I'll be the short fat guy in a Mets jersey and shorts with my hands raised against the fence on any play near the club.
He pee in a cup yet?Soto is on the cusp of a pretty historic season. If he gets to....
40 HR, 30 SB, 100 RBI, 100 RS and 100 BB
He'd be the first person to do that since Bonds in 97 and Bagwell in 99.
If he does, it better be after Cal Raleigh and Giancarlo Stanton filled theirs up.He pee in a cup yet?
All this in a "down" year, he's unbelievable. And there's still fans complaining about himSoto is on the cusp of a pretty historic season. If he gets to....
40 HR, 30 SB, 100 RBI, 100 RS and 100 BB

I don't think you need Holmes to find another gear, I think the Mets just need to adapt and accept that he's gonna give them 4 good innings every time out and pull him.22 games left in the season. 5.5 games behind Philadelphia with a 4 game series in Philly coming up next week that will either put us in a tight race the last couple weeks or solidify our postseason road. We have 4.0 game lead in the wild card.
Senga is an issue. Supposedly he's being asked to go figure it out in the minors. That's not good for a guy we trotted out in the biggest postseason game of last season.
Manaea has not been the same all year and you never know what you're getting inning to inning with him.
Holmes has performed admirably and guts it out even though he's way over his innings high mark right now. I'm not comfortable with him past the 4th/5th.
Petersen got rocked last time out.
Helsley is a flat out disaster.
Hard to imagine Senga, Manaea and Helsley turn it around....or Holmes finding another gear from here on in.
Can we make any sort run with McLean, Tong, Petersen and whatever we can piece together from the rest of that heap?
Mendy holds his cards pretty tight to the vest, but the last week or so, his pressers feel like he's frustrated (and maybe a little fed up) with Senga and Manaea. Interesting if he is and wonder if it's real frustration, attempts to shake them up a bit or both.Hey now, Megill was the starter in one of the team's only no-hitters!
All jokes aside, it IS ridiculous that somehow we are in this situation where we are really putting all our hope in 3 rookies who have a combined 5 major league starts under their belt.
This is squarely on Senga and Manaea, if those two were giving you quality starts on a regular basis everything changes. The bull pen is less stressed, their is less pressure on Peterson and Holmes to be on their A games every time out, the rookies have less on their shoulders...but they are killing us right now. Manaea has to figure out how to extend his outings and not have that blow up inning. I have more hope for him at the moment, he seems to be fine for 2 or 3 innings and then just blow up. Senga dances in and out of trouble every single inning, and lately can't get out of trouble.
Baseball is a funny game though. 3 weeks ago the Mets were falling apart in large part due to having a horrific offense and Soto, Lindor, Alonso and company were struggling mightily. Now the offense is on fire, Soto is being talked about in the MVP discussion and Vientos has gone from being the biggest disappointment to one of the hottest hitters on the team over the last 2-3 weeks. Hopefully it clicks soon for Senga/Manaea and they can rattle off 2 or 3 straight quality starts and build confidence.
