The Official 2025 New York Mets thread

Piggyback game tomorrow. We’re that team now. Why even pretend our starter will go more than 3-4 innings. Then hand the ball off to 2025 flop Manaea. Oh my.
Might as well get in and then upset the 3 seed on the road in a 2 of 3. Why not..

Last night was the best I’ve felt about this team in a while. Let’s keep it rolling.

Was great to see some fight last night. Get down early with a bad inning in the field but battle back and then the Pen keeping the Nats at bay.

Soto is on some kind of heater right now. Heck, a lot of the guys are with the bat. Pete, Lindor, Alvy…even Marte and Baty are swinging the bat well.

If the staff can figure things out then we have a shot to make a deep run.

Better chance of Soto joining the 40/40 club (needs 6 SB), Lindor joining the 30/30 club (needs 3 HR) or Pete going over 40 (needs 3 HR)?

I do not envy you guys having to rely on the Pirates on the road to bail y'all out. Bucs are terrible on the road.

That said, our pitching just shut out the A's for 22 straight innings. But all three games vs Reds should be pitching duels.

Not even really worried about the Reds/Pirates at this point, Mets have to be able to win or nothing matters

Hopefully the Mets sneak in and it doesn't matter, but I have a feeling if they don't get in Mendoza is the scapegoat.

Decisions like today leave me scratching my head. I think they waited too long during the season to start piggybacking Clay Holmes, which is fine. But they did it Tuesday, started Holmes and went to Manaea, and it was super successful. I have no idea why they decided to start Manaea and have Holmes follow him today

Horrible day to be a fan of the Mess & the Jest...

I’d say. Miracle finish squashed by Baker and co, and the never win after 8 Mets.

Tack on the league's low week in my main FFL and 3 lost parlays.
Did you have the Rams? LMFAO. I had Eagles and no business winning.

…back to the Mets. Tiebreaker Reds in 2 or 3 way with us and D Backs. But I think we go 1-2 tops in Wrigley. I hate this team.

I've got them going 2-1 against the Cubs because they have nothing to play for and aren't gonna want to push their starters too much and have them ready for the Wild Card series. I'm still optimistic about this team, they have plenty of talent

God bless, Navery. You sound like Mendy.
“This team has talent.” Dude is out of his element.

The only thing about this season that gives me some solace as it still isn't as bad of a collapse as 2007.

I can see 2 of 3 in Chicago...then 1-2 against the Marlins to close it out. That feels on brand for this team.

It's maddening because when things are clicking this team has a ceiling as high as pretty much anyone out there. But good gracious the floor is deep down in the basement for this team too.

Inconsistency has plagued this team in all aspects. Hitting - we get super hot and lead all of baseball for 2 or 3 weeks, then have a 2 or 3 week stretch where we are the worst hitting team in the sport. No middle ground. Alonso is white hot, then he looks lost. Alvarez spends half the season flailing away at everything, then turns it on. Lindor is burning hot, ice cold, then hot again. Nimmo is solid then goes on about the worst streak of his career. Vientos is horrible, then flashes dominance, now fades away again.

Then pitching is the same, best ERA in the majors after maybe a month or so in, Senga tops in baseball...no he's in the minors. Peterson is an All Star first half, 5+ ERA second half. Manaea dominates for 2 innings, get shelled in the 3rd. Defense can be sparkling, we've seen Pete make some great plays at 1st, Lindor flash gold glove ability, Taylor or Cedric make stellar plays...then Siri and Cedric take horrible angles to balls, drop balls, Lindor has catchable balls glance off his glove, Pete throws the ball away on routine tosses...just wildly inconsistent.

I'd be stunned if Mendoza is back next year if we miss the playoffs. Someone has to take the fall and a month or 2 ago I wasn't really questioning him at all, today I can't say that anymore. Some of his decisions with the staff and bullpen management leave me wondering what we are doing.

I also think the fact that Helsley, Rogers and Mullins have all stunk hasn't helped. In fact, that may have been the tipping point that drove this team fully into the ditch. Helsley especially. He has 16 ER allowed in 17 IP....and that doesn't count any inherited runners that have scored. He was supposed to form the best 1-2 punch in baseball with Diaz.

Helsley and Mullins definitely, but are we really saying Tyler Rogers has sucked? He has a 2.25 ERA in 24 innings since the trade

Weather report for Chicago this weekend is not looking good. They cpuld have the same mess they did last year. No ones fault but their own 😢

Week, not weekend. I hate autocorrect and the 5 minute limit to edit

Eh, I'm lumping him in. He isn't a strikeout guy. He comes in and gets outs most of the time but he's not overpowering and isn't any better than Garrett or Stanek in my head. Not worth trading Drew Gilbert, Tidwell and Butto, is he?

Peterson turned in a tom glavine like showing.

Lindor leads off with a dinger and the vibes are good and then Peterson is averse to throwing a strike. And why didn’t Alvarez throw on the stolen base by the catcher????

McNeil with back to back errant throws. What is happening ? Bad news bears.

I think all 3 of those guys are replacement level players who were off the 40 man roster this winter anyway, so I still make that trade every time

This team is going to kill me. For real.

One thing rarely talked about in this entire thread is how good Diaz has been all season long. He was filthy last night in the biggest save situation of the season so far. He's pitched 3 of the last 4 though and we aren't going to have him tonight.

Theres like a 2 game stretch every week in a half where they look like they are the most unbeatable team in the MLB, then the next 8 games they look like they can't even beat the rockies.

OK guys, we took care of the Reds yet again. Go do something with that.

I refilled my scripts this am, metoprolol & amlodopine, might need to double up this weekend. Keep the nitrogylcerine handy also 🤬🤮

CIN @ PIT on MLB TV 12:40 1st pitch. Guess I'll be looking at my phone alot this afternoon

Well, you're on your own today. We tried, but had a HR robbed in 9th. Lost 2-1.

I can see Mendoza pulling McLean out today up 6-0 after 5 innings thinking he’ll be needed Sunday for all hands on deck. Then the pen giving up 8 the next 2 innings.

I have little confidence these 2025 Mets can accomplish what the 2011 UConn Huskies did, even though it's only 4 wins in 4 days. Will probably need some help, and in any case scr#w up the rotation and rotation even more 😠

Back to not controlling their own destiny again. This team needs a serious makeover this offseason

I'll be packing the bowl going to.Yale Cornell need a,break fro! The Mess

I'm assuming if the Mets lose one more game, they will be the most expensive payroll in any US sport to not make the postseason? Is that correct?

And that's w/o the luxury tax.

The Mess performance over the last couple of months is exactly why some people aren't sports fans

No, 2023 Mets had a higher payroll and missed the playoffs

Down to the last day of the season again, not feeling optimistic that we're relying on the Brewers
