We need a QB. We need to improve our offensive line by a tremendous amount. We need to add three or four quality starters on defense. We need a new coaching staff and we need to replace our GM and the rest of the front office.

Other than that we're in good shape.

I'm very curious as to why Daboll is so opposed to extra points.

I also wish someone on the coaching staff understood basic math. By not calling a timeout after we stopped them on first down (with about 2:45 left) they were able to run the clock down to where there was no difference between running or passing on second down (as the game clock would be below two minutes, therefore the two minute warning would be called regardless), allowing them to pass and basically end the game with the completion.

If we called a timeout there, we would have had only to worry about the run and could have forced a punt before the two minute warning.

There's a laundry list of stupidity running the show for this team.

Anyone else as pissed off as I am that fox 61 now prioritizes the pats over the giants. Tomorrow’s game is at least the second time this year the giants aren’t on network tv (3 or 61) and a couple times last year. Are the Pats really more popular in ct than the giants? In the old days ( with antennas) would at least have had the option of watching fox5 out of nyc but now for most of ct nyc channels are not available thru cable. Personally I have the Sunday ticket but many of my friends and relatives are getting shut out of giant games. As usual seems things are set up to protect the corporations and to hell with the public.

I'm very curious as to why Daboll is so opposed to extra points.

The math says you go for 2 when scoring down 14 because it increases your chance to win. 2 point conversion odds are above 50%, so theoretically you're slightly more likely than not to convert the first one, and then you only need 1 more TD to win instead of 2 scores. If you don't convert the first 2 point conversion its still more likely than not to convert the 2nd attempt.

That said I think it's safe to say at this point that the Giants offense is not good enough to convert on their 2 point attempts, and they should just be kicking the extra point

I was about to say that, for once, the $40 million dollar beneficiary didn't have a major hand in losing the game for the Giants. Then I recalled that his fumble in the 1st quarter led directly to 7 points for the Commanders, and was pretty much the scoring difference in the game. Kudos to the Commanders who played through the whistle on a possible turnover.

Neither defense was lights out, but the Commanders were better in spots where they needed to be. Credit to the Giants for make adjustments and only allowing 6 points in the 2nd half, but they dug quite the hole in the 1st half helped by the PI right after the turnover, and allowing Washington to convert the 3rd and Mile on the drive right before halftime. Both lapses led to touchdowns.

The question about kicking is a good one. The 1st XP (33 yards) and 31 yd FG notwithstanding, the only thing I can think of is that the Giants don't have much faith in their 3rd kicker of the season. I would have also thought they would have called for an onside kick with 2:48 to go. It didn't make sense to me to go for 2 at 24-16, but because they did, why not run it? The Giants were gashing Washington's run defense all afternoon. In both instances, they called for passes on both attempts. At least the Giants didn't give up a TD on the ensuing possession, which would have ended the game for all intents and purposes. OTOH, the field goal didn't really make it it any easier.

The Commanders just acquired Marshon Lattimer from the Saints. They gave up some assets but now have a 4x Pro Bowler under their control for 2 more seasons after this one. He's going to make $16M per, so I wouldn't be surprised if the restructure and extend him. On the other hand he'll be in his early 30s by the end of his current deal.

This is huge with all 4 games left with Philly and Dallas. Washington has affirmed their intentions to stay atop the NFC East.

The Malik Nabors sweep (after he was in the tent) when they had second and five at Carolina's six and were running effectively between the tackles could easily be called into question. but that occurred after my post.

I hate the idea of continually changing coaching staffs (which we've been doing for nearly a decade) but we do need to clean house here (including Schoen).

The worst part is we may be in position to draft one of the top QB's next spring but I'm not sure the available QB's are worth drafting.

If the spirit moves me I'll elaborate in detail, but in short, he seldom does anything to protect the team's weaknesses (primarily pass blocking), in fact he calls plays that requires strengths where the weaknesses are are throws his clipboard in a fit of rage when the play unfolds as anyone (other than him) would expect.
