Happy with the Nabers pick. The G-Men need help everywhere. With the 2nd round pick tonight they can go either offensive or defensive line & I won't quabble with the selection. Interesting that no running backs were picked in the first round. If, by chance, Michigan's rb Blake Quorum is still on the board in the 3rd round, I'd be very happy if he became a Big Blue selection.

They desperately need to address the secondary as well.

I appear to have been way off with TJ Tampa since he's still sitting there in the 4th

I'd still take him in the 4th! Can never have to many corners
Yeah hoping they take him in the 4th now, or one of the RBs. Still don't have much CB depth and sounds like Phillips is more of a slot guy

I’m all for that, and are we content with the olineman we have on the roster now?

I am, wouldn't have hated if they took Haynes in the 3rd though. I think Bricillo and the FA signings will be a big improvement

The Giants 100th Celebration brought together many stars from different eras and their 4 Super Bowls. The off-season Hard Knocks off to a good start.

agreed - and the lack of protection on that play shows little improvement.
I mean, fair I guess. But protection always breaks down. He had way more than enough time to throw it away, as the commentators alluded to. He made the worst possible decision. Hopefully he irons this out now.

The protection was an issue but he needed to get rid of the ball long before he was pressured in the end zone.

He also underthrew Hyatt on the second pick (Hyatt should have broken that one up).

I may be the most pro-Jones Giant fan ther is but I'm not sure he is the answer.

The line was very good yesterday not sure what you're talking about in terms of lack of improvement.

1q jones was abysmal, very good in the 2q. Hope it's knocking off rust and he realizes just throw the ball to Nabers is the way to go

Neither do the Giants brass. It was no surprise to anyone paying attention that he was not cut after last season. The cap hit would have been crippling, but they have an out after this year and, after the Giants tested the trade waters with the Patriots, I don't think it's going out on a limb in continuing to believe he (unfortunately for a fan of a NYG rival) will not be on the roster next season.

He would have to perform significantly better than 2022, but unless he is on par or better than Baker Mayfield last season, I don't think Schoen makes the same mistake twice. Jones is probably auditioning this season for a backup roll next season.

I'm sure the optimism will fade within 4 hours but right now I'm thinking 7-10 for the Giants this year

Personally seeing 5-12. We have a relatively tough schedule too. This is a very winnable game though, hopefully we get off to a good start.

If we can't beat the Vikings we're looking at a 2-15 season.

I'm not sure that things are that bleak but 2-15 may not be the worst thing if:
  • A number of younger, valuable players develop
  • We implement a defense that with a couple additions from rounds 2-6 can become very good
  • Our offensive line, with the new additions learns to play together as a quality unit
  • A college QB emerges (in a perfect world as Burrow did) and the dismal record predicted above allows us to draft him without having to make any trades
Granted, I will spend quite a bit of time this fall being angry, frustrated, generally miserable but if we can actually build something capable of sustaining success one (more) very bad year would be a small price to pay.
