Sunday 1/13 Games Thread (non-UConn)

I’m guessing you’ve never played sports
I am thinking more of the behavior of one Ms.Arike Ogunbawole and Ms. Marina Mabry and their mouths, actions, body language that I could do without. Of course heat of the moment issues within oneself can cause that but you need to control your emotions, not let your emotions control you. I had been know as a bit of a "hot head" myself at times but was able to control that better by the time I got to college with the help of my collegiate coach.

I think you’re making a big deal out of this. The players aren’t losing control, they’re just dropping a bomb when they miss. That’s how young people talk; I know. I was quartermaster of the high school marching band and mentor of the robotics team. Kids casually drop 4 letter word into their sentences as everyday adjectives.

By far their leading scorer, averaging 19 ppg.

unfortunately seems to be an example of a player who moves a lot faster when she has the ball than without it

She also likes to throw herself into the defender to draw a foul.

Disciplined teams generally do well against undisciplined ones and that’s the case here. Cincy up 41-32

UCF just isn't finding its defense. They've held opponents to an average 35% shooting. Cincy is shooting 46% in this game.

Its not going to find its offense by throwing up wild, crazy shot and running silly-nilly up the court into three defenders

Had to switch this off to that 'other' game. Who would've guessed that USF would have a better game today than UCF?

Meanwhile ND is doing what UConn used to do -- absolutely blitzing an opponent. Irish up 22-6

Cincy has lost its composure on offenseafter a few blocked shots. Finally a three to stop the bleeding

Game tied at 48

Kay Kay Wright trying to win the game by herself. Fortunately for UCF she’s getting the foul calls and made a shot in traffic. Normally I’d say it was a dumb shot since there were three defenders but, hey, it went in.

UCF survives 56-55. If Cincy could have kept its composure it might have pulled it out

UCF has survived some close games against teams they're expected to beat, but this was cutting it awful close. By far this was the most poorly I've seen them play.

It's official...Senior guard Armani Hawkins' career at NC State is over, after suffering an ACL injury in Thursday night's win over Pittsburgh.

Two Thursday night games...two ACL injuries.

NC State about to tip off against Virginia.

NC STate off to a 11-2 lead on Virginia. 5:54 left 1st quarter.

I was thinking the Tech - Louisville game would be an interesting battle.... but not so far

:( darn shame Head bang

End of 1st quarter in Charlottesville...NC State leads 16-10. Kiara Leslie with 5 points..DD Rogers with 5 rebounds for NC State.

Bit of a ragged start, but Arizona-Stanford picking up. 21-12 Card after Q1. Smith having a block party, at least 3 already. McDonald struggling a bit but has 7 points.

At the end of Q1 Stanford had Kiana Williams, Anna Wilson and Jenna Brown all on the floor together--3 PGs. That's a bit unusual.

Alanna Smith's favorite Tara VanDerveer quote--"Excuses are like bellybuttons. Everyone has one."

Timeout Virginia...NC State on an 11-1 run to extend lead to 27-11.

Wow, Ole Miss is giving Kentucky a scare in Lexington. Just took the lead 42-41 on a 3 with 5:30 to play.

Smith's career high is 6 blocks. She just tied that about midway thru Q2.

Stanford pulling away 36-16. McDonald only 4-14 from the floor. Carrington has 15. Williams hit another 3, 39-16. Card are 7-14 behind the arc.

Only 3 players have scored for Arizona, approaching halftime.
