Sunday 1/13 Games Thread (non-UConn)

Erika Cassell with 15 points...NC State leads Virginia 42-19, 4:38 left 3rd quarter.

End of 3rd quarter...NC State out in front 47-22. Wolfpack outrebounding Virginia 36-24.

Stanford up 62-27 after Q3. Both teams going deep into the bench now. Jenna Brown getting a fair bit of run and looking solid for Stanford.

Oregon St. leading USC 19-13 after Q1. Minyon Moore is playing today it looks like.

Clemson leading Florida St. 39-30 late in Q3. Early lead for lowest scoring game of the day?

Virginia came out with more energy in the 4th quarter...have cut the lead to 49-30 and going to the line for two when play resumes. 7:41 left.

.-.
The Georgia-Tenn game is a bit painful but then again I guess any “fill in the blank” team vs. Tenn is painful

Here is what you can say about Tenn- they are at least in very good physical shape and have been for all the years I can remember, Georgia, not so much.

Way too little too late, but Arizona outplaying Stanford in Q4. 15-7 this quarter, 69-42 margin. Nightmare game for McDonald, 6-22 from the floor, 0-6 from the arc. A lot of that is Stanford's D, but she missed some open looks. Still has 17 points.

Smith didn't get any more blocks but has 20 points 14 boards, 4-6 behind the arc. She's been out for a while, I think her day is done.

USC tied it up at 29, OSU hit a 3 to go back up. Approaching halftime. After Slocum and Pivec carried them against UCLA, those 2 doing nothing much today. Goodman off the bench w/ 14 and 4-5 3's.

FINAL: NC State remains undefeated, beating Virginia 66-38. Wolfpack Women are now 17-0, 4-0 ACC and are off until next Sunday, against Virginia Tech. Erika Cassell and Kiara Leslie with double doubles for the Wolfpack Women. Elissa Cunane added 11.

So...we won't have three consecutive Thursdays with an ACL injury.

I think Wes Moore is relieved that noone got injured today.

.-.
Indiana looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss, has put up 52 at halftime. This can't be a Big 10 game can it? 52 is more like a final score.

Clemson with the Florida Sweep :eek::eek:

#22 Florida St. is going down, trailing 57-45 to Clemson w/ 30 seconds left.

Upset alert: Clemson is leading Florida State 57-45 with 31 seconds to play.

Clemson and Amanda Butler continue to exceed expectations.

Clemson about to upset Florida State, leading 53-45, 1:21 to go.

Amanda Butler has it going on at Clemson, which has been down, down down for the last 15 seasons or so. Good to see them back to playing solid ball.

I cant remember the last time Clemson WCBB knocked off a top 25 squad.

Brutal weekend for those in attendance in Tallahassee. First yesterday's heartbreak  .. now this.

78-48 Stanford final.
About what I expected. I checked the score periodically.

Watching football in our hotel as my wife recuperates from her surgery. The first football game wasn't much, and I glanced at the Tenn / Ga game and it isn't compelling either.

In the Colonial. The C of C wins on the road at W&M 66-54. UNC-W comes from behind to defeat Elon 75-70.

Was wondering the same thing.

In 2011-12 season, 52-47 win at #22 UNC -- ~49 straight losses.

I should have known that

Probably somewhere in the Boneyard archives I was gloating about that game :p

About what I expected

Honestly I didn't. Stanford hadn't had a comfortable win in conference like that previously. I guess the way Utah blitzed Arizona should've been a red flag though. Although UA beat ASU and Cal in Tucson, so I thought they'd be competitive at home.

.-.
OSU got control in Q3. Up 55-36 near end of Q3. Pivec has gotten going. Goodman having a great game, 17 points on 6-9 shooting 5-6 behind the arc.

Dang I can't type fast enough. 24-6 this quarter now 58-36. Go Beavs!

The Oregon - USC game was a poor indicator of either team. USC was without Minyon Moore who leads the team in PPG, APG, RPG, and MPG. When someone leads the team in those 4 categories, clearly they make the team go.

Beavs up 20 w/ about 2 minutes left. Pivec had 2 at halftime, now has 21. 15 points for Maddie Washington, that's gotta be a career high.

What a difference a year makes. Last season OSU got blown out by UCLA and coughed up a 17 point lead to lose to USC. This time they're gonna get the road sweep in LA.

edited--now Washington has 19 on 8-10 shooting; who saw that coming?

76-52 final

Yeah, Oregon caught a bit of a break there. Surprising Minyon only missed 1 game, usually concussion protocol takes longer than that to clear.

On Benny's House they are talking about USC players yelling at each other on the court, sounds like there is some discord going on there. Maybe round 2 for Trakh at USC isn't going to end up any better than round 1.

Vols lose 3rd in a row (first time since 1986) falling to GA after a double-digit halftime lead

Triple double for Mangakahia today in a win over UNC--34 points 10 rebounds 10 assists!
